Chapter 25

Austin's POV

"Why? Why are you afraid of becoming a mother?" I say helplessly.

"Because I want to continue to live my life the way I had planned. I never wanted my life to end up like this. Pregnant in high school? My life and this baby's life will be ruined."

I pull up to Emily's house to see her mother standing outside.

"Did you tell your mom that you're planning on giving the baby away?" I ask.

"No. She probably won't like it."

"Good. Maybe she'll talk some sense into you." I scoff.

"Are we going to go through this again?" She remarks.

I sigh and turn my head away.

Emily opens the door and climbs out with the brochures she got for the doctor.

"Uh, Emily?" I call after her. "I promised you that I was going to be by your side and help you through your pregnancy. I promised you that we will make it through this together." I say.

Emily nods her head understandably.

"But I need you to promise me something." I begin.

"What?" She asks.

"I need you to promise me that we will make it through this together and that you won't give the baby up for adoption."

Emily doesn't respond.

She shuts the door and turns away walking inside.

I sit in my car blank.

Emily leaves behind a dead feeling.

There is a possibility that I will never raise my child.
