“Are you ready yet Elise?” My mom yelled to me from downstairs.
“Just a minute!” I yelled back, carefully placing my last poster off my wall into my suitcase. I was packing for college. Yes, college. And I was leaving in about 5 minutes. We were driving from San Diego up to UCLA.
I picked my heavy suitcase up off of the floor and ran with it down the stairs. I set it down next to my other bags sitting by the front door.
“You ready, babe?” Peirce, my boyfriend asked. He wrapped his arm around my waist. Oh yeah. Peirce is coming to college with me.
“Yeah,” I said smiling up at him. He smiled back before leaning down and softly pressing his lips to my own. I really was happy we both got accepted to our first choice college. It's going to be amazing.
“Okay good, you're down,” my mom said, walking into the room. “It's going to be quite a drive, we better get going.”
I reached down to grab all my bags I could, which were about 4. Peirce picked up my other 3. We all walked out to my mom's car and put my bags in the trunk next to Peirce's. I climbed into the back seat, and Peirce slid in next to me.
'Bye San Diego' I thought inside my head. I really was going to miss my home.
I sat back and stared out the window for the next 6 hours as I watched the world fly past me, feeling anxious as ever.

“815C,” I read off my dorm room from the stack of documents I was holding.
“Well, we're in the B's, so it'll be forward a little more,” Peirce said, leading the way. My mom and I followed closely behind.
“Here we are, 815C,” Peirce grinned at me, gesturing to the door. I pulled my key out of my backpack and opened the door. It was pretty small, with two double sized beds, two desks, two dressers, and a closet. One half of the room was covered in different music and movie posters, and the bed was unmade, and clothes were in the hamper.
“Well it looks like your roomate's already moved in,” my mom said laughing. Peirce set my bags down next to my bed.
“I better go get my bags now and check out my room,” Peirce said. “I'll text you and we can get dinner later, Elle.”
“Sounds good,” I smiled to him. He smiled in return, then turned and left.
“I can't believe you're leaving me for college. I'm gonna be so lonely,” my mom said sadly.
“I can't believe it either. And you won't be alone. You'll have Peirce's mom to hang out with.”
“I'm just gonna miss you so much, Elle.” My mom walked forward to hug me.
“I'll miss you too mom.” I hugged her back, squeezing gently. She gave me a kiss on the cheek.
