Chapter One: The Truth

(AN: This story is a Third Person POV. However, it only follows Natsu, so you can't tell what the others think or do when Natsu isn't present.)

Natsu "Salamander" Dragneel rushed down the hallways of The Cube with a certain eagerness dwelling in his chest.

"Mira! Mira, where are you?"

As he scanned the halls, Natsu couldn't find any trace of the eldest Strauss sibling.

"Get him!"

About a dozen Tartaros foot soldiers charged down the corridor in hopes of apprehending their newest intruder.

As the flaming sword swung at the soldiers, their movements became delayed and sluggish until they froze in front of him.

"What in the world is going on here?"

Footsteps were heard from behind him, however before he could turn around, Natsu heard a voice calling out.

"So you made it this far...Though I knew you would.

"This is Zeref's bookshelf, Tartaros. The town where all my books live..."

Natsu slowly turned around, facing the new threat.

"Zeref."

Natsu leaped out in an attempt to swing a wild, yet powerful, side cut at Zeref. However, when he got close, the sword shattered from the force of Zeref's magic pressure.

"Only one of you will come before me in the end: you, Natsu Dragneel, or E.N.D., my strongest creation.

"You will be the one to choose whether E.N.D. lives or dies."

Natsu seemed confused, so he did the rational thing.

"Get to the point, what do you want Zeref?"

Zeref looked at Natsu with an unperplexed look, as if his reasons were obvious.

"Well I wanted to talk to you, and you alone Natsu..."

Before Natsu could continue, Zeref continued instead.

"Well, I guess we're running out of time. I don't want any of my children to see me here, otherwise it would ruin all the fun."

"Again, what do you want?"

Zeref looked at Natsu with a familiar look, one that put Natsu on edge.

"Well Natsu, I'm your older brother of course." Zeref put it simply.
