"The Devil's Return" A Fairy Tail Fanfiction

Chapter Nine: Visitor

The stranger in the corner of the room and sat quietly, understand, and unsatisfied with the look he was getting. Sure those covering his face, he got up and slowly walked towards the crowd. Not talking, so people couldn't tell who he was, hd couldn't resist a smile slowly appearing on his face.

"You know finally meeting you here is a pleasure. It's my pleasure. I didn't think I could step foot in this guild one more time, at least not since Mavis's time."

Even before the figure could step out of the shadow Natsu could tell who it was. With a calm and collected tone he muttered the name. "Zeref."

At that, every Fairy Tail Mage turned to look at the sudden appearance.

"What are you doing here? This is our guild! You can't destroy it!" Erza yelled testimony in defiance of the dark wizard's appearance.

"My, my, you do not interest me. The only one here of any interest would be you two."

The black wizard look in the general direction of Natsu and Gray, standing side by side. Pointing out Gray, he said, "you in the slightest, Ice wizard."

Gray scowled at his guild's adversary. "Damn you! You show up here? Why? You want to destroy us at the destruction of your precious demon race?"

"Well of course you're forgetting one."

He looked at Natsu.

"Brother. Come to me and we can-"

Natsu cut him off.

"Oh and take over the world? Phh, classic."

For the first time, Zeref lost his cool.

"No you idiot! I can't believe I raised you to turn out like, like, this? Man, what did Igneel do to you? Of course you count on a dragon to teach you! Did fire spew out of his cursed mouth when he spoke?" Zeref regained his cool. "Sorry, I meant to ask you something. Have you ever wondered who our parents are? Who raised us? 400 years ago?"

Natsu, as always, lost his cool this time.

"You think I care about that? I was given a family, right here, I don't need your trusted logic! I will defeat you!"

"Oh yeah? Go ahead and try, if you're gonna want a chance you better take this."

Zeref pulled something out of his pocket and before Natsu could realize what it was it was being hurled at his head.

Raising up his arms instinctively, he caught it; and as soon as he did, dropped it in shock and terror.

The book of E.N.D. fell to the ground, nothing happened for a second, then the pages started to fumble and scatter quickly as if a fan was blowing it so one side.

The book shines with golden brilliance, and blinded everyone close enough, which of course included every member of Fairy Tail.

A huge column of fire erupted into the sky, wide enough to burn the guild to the ground.

Horns sprouted from the figure's head, blackish red wings attached to the tall man - no, demon's back - and long dragon-like claws were visible from the end of its arms.

"E.N.D.'s awake, the final battle awaits..."

The only one unsurprised, Zeref, was standing across the guild hall floor. Or what used to be the guild hall. He had bee waiting for this moment for a while now.
