Alexis was so tired from weeping and her knees are so weak. She almost fell on the ground after Blake released her from the chains. He quickly carried her to the bed and gently placed her there to sit. He took a handkerchief from his back pocket an wiped her face removing her tears and sweat.
"I don't understand," she whispered. Her heart is beating fast and she doesn't understand why she feel that she could trust this man who kidnapped her.
"You will one day. But for now, please trust me and do not run away. I don't want to lock you up in here but I had to. You will not be tracked easily underground."
"So you locked me up and chained me?"
He managed to smile, "I'm awfully sorry. I only wanted to keep you safe. This is the least I can do for now." Blake gave her the sandwich and she took it. She needs energy so that she'll be strong enough in case she finds a way to escape.
"I will not keep you here tonight. You can sleep in a room upstairs," he instructed as he watch her eat. "And I'm sorry I had to strip you off your clothes. They will be able to track you easily if I did not do that."
Her face turned red thinking what this beautiful man did while she was out. She stroked her dark hair and took a deep breath, "Why should I trust you?"
"Because now," he said plainly. "I am your only chance to live."
