The ringing in my ears was unbearable. My eyesight was fuzzy and I tasted blood in my mouth. Someone was yelling my name. I couldn't tell. I finally came around my senses. I was stuck in my vehicle, Gallion was outside.
At first I didn't remember anything, but now, I remember the cannibals shooting our vehicle. Toppling over then passing out. I got out of the vehicle by cutting the seatbelt and making me fall on my head. Ouch , I groaned. I low crawled my way through the broken window. And immediately ran into enemy crossfire.
"Commander, stay down!" Gallion was lying prone on the ground. Rifle in hand. His head was bandaged and was bleeding on one side.
"Crossfire with cannibals and mercs. I swerved to avoid gunfire. Worst decision I ever made." Gallion explained. "Who do we shoot?" He asked.
"Just fire!" I yelled over the zip-zip-zip of incoming enemy fire. Gallion went from a prone position to a crouch and took cover using the door of the civilian vehicle. Sadly my rifle broke in the crash (again), I took out my sniper rifle and aimed west, where the yelling of wild beast came from. Most likely where the cannibals were.
My Thermal Optic was on and I could see targets, moving closer. I squeezed the trigger and it fell. Lifeless on the ground. The ejected thermal clip casing dropped to the floor. Reloading, more swarmed. Husks, cannibals. I reached for the shotgun on my back. Fired 2 rounds and both ripped the husks apart.
"Gallion, move to the base of the treeline, 20 meters away." I commanded. "I'll cover you. As soon as you're there, cover me." I tapped him on the shoulder twice, giving him the signal to move. He ran and I laid a constant stream of firepower on the advancing enemies. As soon as he was in position, I ran. Like a Varren was on my hide. We regrouped and we headed south to destroy the jamming device.
"Commander, we can piggyback ride on one of the mercenary trucks."
"How?"
"We can slip into their campsite probably a few kilometers from here and hide somewhere in one of the vehicles."
"Sounds good. Speaking of infiltrating camps. Follow that patrol." I pointed at the road and at a couple mercenaries marching.

Camille's POV
"Contact!" Eric's voice yelled out loud. He spun a piece of metal the size of a baseball and threw it speeding at the speed of sound. The helmet didn't break but it dented it so hard the mercenary collapsed on the ground.
"Camille, I need covering fire to the west, we cannot give them time to regroup for another major assault!'
"Affirmative!" I picked up the Geth Plasma Rifle and proceeded to fire hot liquid and prevented the mercs from moving to the west, taking some of them down as well.
"Isabel, I need you on the roof and provide overwatch." Again Eric commanded and she complied. She ran inside, snatching a sniper rifle from the ground. I dropped to one knee to improve my accuracy and fired 1-2 shots to conserve my ammunition and to improve more accurate shots. Gunfire was heard all around.
"Eric! Get inside!" He heard me and picked up the rifle on the ground. I primed a grenade from my bandolier and threw it at about 25 yards away and sent some people screaming. Eric ran inside and provided covering fire with biotics. I placed a proximity mine on the ground before running inside.
"Eric, bring the entrance down!"
"You got it!" With his biotic abilities, he brought the entrance crashing down. We were all inside, and we had no way out. They cut the power to the electricity, and jammed the signal as well.
