Chapter 13 Rydel

Laura's POV

I pulled my hand free and ran out of the hall into the garden, tears flowing down my cheeks like a waterfall.

Did I make the right decision? It's for the best...right?

Ross' POV

I wanted to chase after Laura, but I couldn't. My feet were stuck to the ground like glue. Someone placed its hands on my shoulder. I turned around to see Rydel looking at me sympathetically.

"I'll go after her you stay here with the others," she said softly.

I slowly nodded and watched her go.

Laura's POV

I was sitting on the bench, still crying my eyes out when I suddenly heard someone calling my name. It was a girl.

"Laura?"

I turned around and saw...Rydel?!

"Hey," she said gently, walking towards me.

"Hey" I answered, drying my tears with the back of my hand.

"You okay?" she asked, sliding in the seat next to me.

"Not really," I sniffed, resting my head on her shoulder. She didn't seem to mind though.

We sat in comfortable silence...that is...until she broke it.

"Do you wanna...maybe talk about...that?" she asked, referring to that scene.

I nodded. I really need someone to talk to.

"I didn't mean to hurt Ross, you know. This might sound selfish but the main reason I rejected him, was because of the haters." I took a deep breath and continued. "I've never told anyone this before, so please Rydel, if I tell you, don't tell anyone else, especially Ross."

"I swear I won't," she replied.

"It's that..."

Rydel motioned me to continue.

"I-I've been getting insults and death threats literally every day ever since Ross and I started hanging out."

"Oh Laura," Rydel said, pulling me into a comforting hug.

Tears are streaming down my cheeks, soaking Rydel's clothes.

"W-what should I do?" I asked through sobs.

Rydel pulled away and gave me a small smile.

"First, what did the hates say?" she asked.

I calmed down before talking. "They say I'm useless and that Ross is just friends with me because he pities me since I'm worthless and a piece of shit. I tried to ignore them, but I couldn't. The hates just persistently grew day by day," I was on the verge of crying again.

"Laura, don't listen to the haters. They're just jealous because you're hanging out with a celebrity when they couldn't. And trust me, Ross really does love you. He talks about you literally everytime we ask him how school was. How gorgeous your eyes are, how perfect you are and how much he wants to date you." she smiled but then frowned. "He was really depressed when you rejected him.

I looked down and mentally reprimanded myself for rejecting him.

"I'll just go now, I know you need time to think about it. Here's my number, call me if you wanna talk or have some girl time," Rydel gave me a piece of paper and left.

I nodded even though I knew she wouldn't see it.

I caged my head in my hands and groaned.
