Who am I really? Let’s be honest, there are 7 billion people inhabiting this earth as we speak. There are 252 births every minute worldwide and about 107 deaths per minute. How important am I really? It would seem all too easy to slip away under our life covers and go unnoticed or even forgotten about. How important am I really? Do I matter? Is there a purpose or goal for my life? Or am I just living for nothing? I mean, how could God who is perfect, love me who is far from perfect, when there are so many people who I think are better than me? How important am I really? According to the worldview, I am stardust bumping into stardust and nothing more, but I am here to tell you the biblical view. An estimated 49 billion people have walked this earth since creation. How could I, .00000000002174% of the earth's population in history be so important? Together lets dig in and find out how relevant you are.
I often find myself caught in the thought trap that God is never going to use me for anything important, so I stray from His path that is tried and true and try this whole life thing on my own; not such a great idea I quickly realized. My faith dwindled, pride grew, and my sinful self-seeking person took over. I also completely forgot the reason God put me here, the purposes God hand-crafted me for and just how much He loves me (Ephesians 2:10). If you are to remember one thing from reading this, remember that God in all of His glory loves me as he has loved every person He has ever created, unconditionally and without holding back. It is impossible, in any language, to express the deep, earnest, just, and caring love God has for us.
Romans 8:31-39 (MSG)
"So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture: They kill us in cold blood because they hate you. We’re sitting ducks; they pick us off one by one. None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us."
With God putting everything in line for us, recognizing our disease named sin and convicting us of our sin through His spirit, God still sends His perfect Son to, in a sense stoop to us (without leaving His glory) so we can live with him in eternal joy and we question, does God love us. Paul seemed to be 100% convinced that absolutely nothing, and he lists; nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, higher or lower, thinkable or unthinkable can separate us from the Love God has so generously lavished on us...Nothing, and I repeat NOTHING! This is only possible because of the raw and powerful way Jesus exposed His glory on the cross.
How many of us are blind at times? All of us, including myself!). If we cannot see God's presence in or on this earth even with all the evil we unjustly blame God for, count ourselves blind because we are missing The Life by a long shot and only "living" lives of no worth or meaning. I ask you, do you believe that God loves you (John3:16)? Or that He thinks of you as his children? (1 John 3:1) or even that He thinks of you as valuable and irreplaceable? If you answered no to any of those questions, I ask have you searched for God with all your heart?
God promises us that if you search you will not come up empty handed (Matthew 7:7). What if I told you God loves you enough to give up His one and only, I repeat, ONE and ONLY son via crucifixion to save us from perishing? Even though you are only .00000000002174% of people that God has ever made, His perfect, sinless son died a brutal sacrificial death for you and for all, as long as you believe in Him. God sealed His love for us with the death of His son Jesus Christ and replenished our faith with His resurrection. .00000000002174% and loved more than anything on this earth by a perfect God who has a perfect love for His children whom He created with perfection in mind. No matter how small you think you are on this earth, know and understand that God looks at you differently than you look at yourself.
God tells us not to judge, The first thing we think not to do is judge others which is completely true, we should not judge others but then we forget not to judge ourselves thinking it is different than judging others. God uses the underdogs of the Bible to change the world like Moses, Joshua, Elijah, Job, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Mary, Martha, and Paul. God constantly uses the people the world looks at as weak. He uses them to accomplish things no rich or high ranking person could do usually because of pride. So before the next time you think of yourself as unimportant, or invisible, or even worthless, make sure to look up, open His word and remember who you are to Him!
