One worry (of the many) I used to and still on ocassion struggle with and think many of us struggle with is the thought of "Am I really a Christian?" and the question "will I preserver in my faith till the end?" I look to the Parable of the three soils Jesus gives in the Gospels(Luke 8:4-21). I am able to clarify that I have indeed taken some root, but has enough tribulation come that I will dry up and bear no more fruit? Will I last? Because I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it is in reach. Will I abort my faith? God, through out the Bible gives us promises of all sorts, for all areas of our lives. Taking a look at some of the promises God gives about persevering till the end I come across these verses:
Philippians 1:4-6- In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
If you have accepted Jesus in your life He has started a transformation in your life weather you realize it or not. He has began something He will finish even if we feel like He is leaving us hanging. God has a purpose for us (Jerimiah 29:11-13). God would not put so much energy and time into making you the person you are supposed to be if He was not going to finish what He started and if He was not going to use you for anything important! The crazy thing is God has a plan, an amazing, perfect and completing plan for every single person who trusts in His Son Jesus Christ (Jeremiah 29:11).
Jeremiah 32:40-41- I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear (respect) me, so that they will never turn away from me. I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul.
The Lord, once He has you will NEVER let you go, its your choice if you run away, and even that God will recklessly and persistanlty chase after you in love. Remember, your faith in God rests in the perseverance of Jesus!( another way of saying your faith in the one true God is determined by the perseverance and perfection of the savior! Which will never fail!)He will never rebuke you or give-up on you, even if you "give-up" on Him. You are His child (1 John 3:1) and like any good father, He will never give up on any of His children.
