The Gift of Grace: Why Giving Up is the Only Option
Grace is getting something we do not deserve from God. Grace is also unobtainable by trying are hardest to be perfect. It is a necessary gift and it is only possible for us to receive the gift of grace because of Jesus Christ's death on the cross. Grace is received and given when we have biblical faith in Jesus Christ. The reason we dont deserve grace is because of our sin. Jesus Christ, a perfect, sinless man who was also 100% God, died a common but incredibly brutal death on a cross for you and I. Right before Jesus died He looked up with His last ounces of strength and said to God, "why have you forsaken me?" Jesus became the symbol of sin in that moment and Gods wrath towards sin and sinners was poured out on Jesus. Why is it that the only perfect man who has ever lived died a sinner's death? While He was dangling on the cross pushing up off the nails to breath, He was thinking of you. While he was being nailed to the cross, "He yelled " Father, forgive them, for they don not know what they are doing." (Luke 23:34) (Think about that, Jesus asked God to forgive us while His hands and feet where being nailed to His cross). Even before Jesus made it to the cross He was mocked verbally, He was beaten and He was spit on and all He Thought about was, us (every single one of us). He wanted all to be saved and still does (1 Timothy 2:3-4, 2 Peter 3:9). An innocent man was placed on a fake trial. It was a "fake" trial because He was innocent, and everyone knew that and was found "guilty" out of anger on the side of the Pharisees. I guess that is why it is called Grace. Jesus got what we deserved so He could give us what we didn't deserve. The harder we try to please God in hopes of earning Grace, the further we only push ourselves away from Christ and the Grace He gives. When we try harder God is knocking us on the head telling us "look to the cross, no more need to try! Grace has been earned for you!" Grace is not received by what (*place name here*) has done, but by what Christ has done for me (us, you) So I title this "Why Giving Up is the Only Option" because that is precisely what we need to do. Give up our sleves, stop trying so hard to be perfect, and let the Grace that has been earned for you come over your life. To recap, we (as in all human) need to understand that Grace is un-earnable, and that to have faith in Christ (which could be another whole paper :p) means we have received Grace and that the Grace God gives us will remain on us as long as we remain in Him. (John Chapter 15).
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." (John 15:5)
