[Three weeks later]
The number of fans had increased incredibly. Some of them even visited the FBI office to photograph them, or to get an autograph. Lisbon had been annoyed since the moment Jane started socializing with them. She wasn't jealous, it just annoyed her really badly. None of them had seen Marcus Pike since the awkward and somewhat frightening meeting between Lisbon and Pike.
"And then she told me I'm some sort of Mentalist. The fans want us to start a show named like that. I think it would be awesome don't you think?"
Lisbon rolled with her eyes and sighed. He had been babbling about these so called fans of them and his stories were definitely making her go insane.
He smiled, his eyes met hers and she gave him a dead, blank glare. His smile faded away and he directed his head towards the door of the cafe they were standing in front of. After he opened the door he held it open so Lisbon could walk in. He followed and they sat down.
The cafe looked old, but cosy. The walls were made of wood, with some curls and triangles carved into it. On the wall hang some paintings and images of old school cars. The ceiling was also made of wood and the floor was covered with a fluffy yet fancy red carpet. Furthermore, the cafe was mostly very crowded around lunch time and Jane and Lisbon loved to spend their time there. After they ordered their lunch and received their drinks; Jane tea and Lisbon Cola with ice cubes; they discussed the case they were working on. It wasn't a big case. Just a woman presumably killed by her husband who ran away to leave the country tomorrow. They planned to go to the airport with the team just in time to catch and arrest him.
The case of Ashley Stevens had been closed a couple of days ago. The man who attacked Jane and Lisbon was the father of Ashley and had murdered her. A so called family picnic got out of hand and he unexpectedly murdered her out of rage. Her mother knew this, but was afraid to tell the feds what happened. Ashley's father will be in jail for a long time and Tera Stevens is going to get prosecuted for withholding information.
Jane looked around and observed the people sitting in the cafe. Some of them looked like normal average people, yet a couple of them fell out. Two men in their mid 30s were chatting with each other and simultaneously checking them out. When Jane looked at them and they shared looks, one of them stood up and walked towards the restroom. The other man turned his back towards them and took a sip from his drink. Jane decided to leave him until the other man would show up again.
"You okay?" Asked Lisbon. She noticed he was acting weird and didn't even listen to her theories of the case. He smiled and nodded.
"Yeah. So. Let's play a game. I say a random letter of the alphabet and you tell me the first word that pops up into your head."
She raised her eyebrows and chuckled.
"Why? I don't like games Jane""Please?" The look on his face and the innocent puppy dog eyes he gave her, made her reluctantly give in.
"Fine..Q."
"Questioning. My turn. F."
"Fridge."
