A swampy planet with no primitive life. That's Yelmos. Towards the end of the Clone Wars, the Separatist Alliance built a factory and a garrison there. Our mission was to take it out.
"General Durkin, we are approaching the Separatist Sector 6.5." I told our Jedi counterpart.
"Thanks, Fossil." he replied.
I've been in battle a few times. I'm never been excited or nervous. We clones are bred for war. I have seen the horrors of battle. Men suffering. Some are lucky enough to die immediately. Some are lucky, and unlucky, to live.
BOOM!!!
A nearby artillery shot blasted towards our gunships.
"We're taking heavy fire!" the pilot called out to us.
This happened at Genosis, but not like now. I hung on the handle above me for dear life. Every second could have been my last breath.
BOOOM!!!
"Gunship 03 has been hit!!" the pilot's tone changed dramatically.
I heard a blast from below, which meant the debris had hit the ground.
"We have to get to the landing zone!" I shouted to the pilot.
"I agree! Get us there!" Durkin ordered.
"Right away sir."
"Lock and load, boys!" I commanded.
"We're going in!"
Our gunship touched the grown.
"It's go time!"
Durkin went out first. He lunged himself out and ignited his lightsaber. We were at war.
I was second. I quickly ran behind him and began locating the nearest target. The swap land was hard to see, nevertheless move through. Red and blue blasts whizzed back and forth. I held up my DC-15 Blaster Rifle and aimed.
Suddenly, a trooper to my right is hit. He is thrown all the way back about a yard. But he isn't dead. I shot once to try and take out the droid. I ran over to him. I felt his head.
"It hurts." he could barley breath.
"I know, it will be all right." I tried to comfort him in his final moments.
"Goodbye, Fossil-" his hand fell to the ground.
I shut his eyes.
I picked up my rifle and resumed fighting. I saw a group of advancing battle droids. Turner to your left!
Turner and I begin pouring fire into the enemy's ranks. All around me, clones and droids alike fall.
"Push forward!" I yelled.
I charge alongside General Durkin.
He sprung into action. He jumped in the air, deflecting blaster fire. As he lands, he cuts a Super Battle Droid in half.
"Don't let up!" he yells.
"FORWARD!"
I take cover behind a moss covered tree. I shake some of the swamp gunk off my armor. I began blasting at some entrenched droids. I reload. I aim again. Their in my crosshairs is a commando droid shooting away. I shoot. Headshot!
I take a grenade out and throw towards the separatist. BOOM!
We have cleared the CIS out of sectors 6.0-6.9.
"Commander Fossil, that was some good fighting." General Durkin complemented.
"Thank you, sir."
We gather other officers to debrief our next move. We all sat on a long log to discuss our plans.
"Alright," Durkin says holding a hologram, "Commander Fossil will push the droids out from the left flank. I will lead the middle. And Captain Turner will attack the right. We need to take this foundry. We need to also try and cut off their  reinforcements. We will meet at sector 7.1 after our objectives are complete. Understood?"
"Yes, sir."
"Get your men ready, we'll be moving in 10."
I got to lead an independent assault. Before we could begin, we had to wait for a supply run ordered by our advance guard. They must have been low on ammunition, but my force was given something more.
"Commander Fossil, this is for you or whoever  you assign to it."
A gunship dropped off a brand new All Terrain Recon Transport (AT-RT).
"Sergeant Plas," I called out, "I am assigning you this AT-RT. Take good care."
"Yes, sir."
He saddled up and gave it a whirl. If you asked me, those just make you
an easy target. Unless you know how to properly turn it into a death machine.
"All right men! Move out!"
The delay had ended. And we parted ways.
