Chapter 1: "The Beginning"

*Alice's P.O.V*

Where am I? It's dark. It's cold. Am I dead? I can't be dead. All I remember is the car swerving and ramming into the guardrails. I remember someone shouting and then it became dark. I'm scared. What if I don't wake up? Who will miss me? What have I done with my life? What's that faint buzzing? I can't die. Not like this. I won't die like this. Fight it. Come on Alice! FIGHT IT!

I slowly opened my eyes to bright lights being glaring at me. Voices were everywhere. I couldn't distinguish what they were saying, but I knew that they were talking to me. A woman who was kneeling next to me was trying to get my attention. She was very tall yet slim. She had long dark hair and the greenest eyes. She had me in a trance just with her gaze. It reminded me of someone; but who? I finally focused enough to hear her say, "Are you alright?" I grimaced and tried to move but I was strapped to some sort of board. Pain shot through my head like a dagger going through flesh. I moaned in pain and the woman nodded her head to two men who stood by my head. The board lifted and I was carried off toward a nearby ambulance. The ambulance looked strange. It looked more like an armored vehicle than an ambulance. Once inside I was given a shot and I started to feel drowsy. The last thing I saw was the green eyed woman staring at me with a smirk before I was consumed by darkness.

I opened my eyes to see myself in a white room. I groaned as I sat up, my head hurting like hell. I looked around and saw a sink and a toilet in the corner of the room. I got out of the rough bed and shuffled over to the toilet. I did my business and was washing my hands when I heard a knock on the steel door. Before I could even think about walking over to the door, it opened. That same woman who was in the ambulance with me walked in and smirked as she looked at me. "Finally sleeping beauty is awake." I narrowed my eyes at her. I didn't know where I was and now this woman appears again making a snide remark. What the hell. "Where am I?" The woman walked over to the bed and sat down. "You are nowhere that concerns you. My employers have a proposition for you." I crossed my arms over my chest and narrowed my eyes at the woman. "What kind of proposition?" The woman smirked even more and sighed, "I'm afraid I am not the one to tell you that." I narrowed my eyes even more, "Then who can tell me?" The sound of the door opening made me jump. Three men dressed in heavy armor came in and stood at attention. The woman got up from the bed and walked toward the men. "Follow me." She left the room and two of the guards followed after her as the last one followed after me.

*Dr. Wheeler P.O.V*

I was standing in front of a glass wall that was pitch black, looking down at my notes not fully paying any attention. I was deep in thought over whether this girl would truly be able to help or if he was simply wasting his time and also his supervisor's time. I looked up once the door slid open to reveal my assistant, the guards I sent, and a young woman. The young woman looked so small and frail, I was afraid that this task I had for her might break her in half. She had beautiful black hair that reached to her lower back. Her eyes were the lightest blue I had ever seen. They almost looked silver. I cleared my throat and proceeded toward them with a slow shuffle. My assistant stopped in the middle of the room and looked at me as I came closer. The guards took their positions around the room standing at attention. I gave the young woman a small smile, "Ah, you must be Ms. Alice Lewis." She nodded her head slowly. "I am. You would be?" I chuckled. "I am Doctor Lucas Wheeler. I am the head of this department." I held out his hand and she took it. Her hand was small compared to mine. I brought my hand back and grabbed a manila folder from my clipboard. I handed to my assistant who proceeded to give it to Alice. "I know that this is all of a sudden and a bit mysterious, but it is the only way we can fully get into contact with you." Alice looked at me with confusion in her eyes. "What do you mean by the only way of contacting me?" I smiled and turned my back on her to walk back to the glass wall. "The car accident of course." I heard a soft gasp escape her lips. In a small voice she said, "You were the one that caused that?" I turned and faced her, "Not me personally, but I was involved in the planning of it." I could see anger ignite in her eyes. "I ALMOST DIED!" I chuckled at her fit of anger. "Almost," I said calmly. She balled her hands into tiny fists crushing a bit of the folder. "What do you want from me," she asked. I looked back down at my clipboard once more. "Just look into the folder and it will explain everything."

*Alice's P.O.V*

I stared at him with anger coursing through my body. I opened the folder and looked at the documentation inside. The papers were explaining about five different cases. All five of the men were soldiers in the Korean army. They all had psychological disorders. They all had a similar case except for a few minor details. Dr. Wheeler cleared his throat and I looked up. "This is no ordinary job. I understand you are a very good psychologist, yes?" I nodded my head and continued to read the documents. I stopped at the part that read something along the lines of "genetic mutations" and I frowned. "I'm sorry but what does this mean by genetic mutations?" He lowered his clipboard and stared at me for about a minute. He seemed to contemplate over his words. "I think it is better to just show you," he said in a monotone voice. I walked closer to the glass and he stood next to me. "What you are about to see is highly classified. If this information was to be leaked to the media it would destroy the United States and South Korea for sure." His eyes seemed to burn right through me. I nodded my head slowly. He looked at the glass and with a booming voice he yelled, "LIGHTS!"

(A/N: I hope the first chapter pleased you. This is my first fanfiction that I am truly publishing. I mean I have written others but this is the first one that I am actually publishing. I hope you guys liked it.)
