32 / Maddie

I was trying to find Luke. I'd only seen him once when I got to school today and that was it. As I went to turn the corner I heard Michael and Calum talking. I decided to sat where I was for the minute and not interrupt them. Luke's locker was in a part of school no one really had to go so it was quiet.

"You fucked her then" I heard Calum say.

"Yeah" Luke said, clearly not amused by the conversation topic.

"I thought you'd be happier about it. You won after all"

"Guys, I told you I didn't want to go through with that anymore"

"Just because you've actually got feelings for her and don't want to lose her" Michael scoffed as he said it.

"It was stupid bet that I wish I hadn't been a part of. If Maddie finds out it'll crush her. She thinks I've changed. For fucks sake, I have changed. Maddie means a lot to me and thanks to that stupid bet you two made two months ago it could be over with her. What great friends you are"

"You didn't have to agree to get her to have sex with you"

"That's not even how it happened. I didn't even persuade her"

"Shit, man, you've messed up"

"Me? You haven't helped the situation. If you hadn't come up with the idea I wouldn't be in this position now"

"Don't put all the blame on us. You didn't have to go through with it"

"I told you I didn't want to. I was drunk and you took advantage of me not thinking straight. I tried to back out a month ago and you forced me into still going through with it. I didn't even think about the bet when we had sex. All that mattered was her"

"Sorry, Luke but it's not our problem. All we've got to worry about is paying you"

"I don't want your fucking money. You are not paying me because I managed to get her to have sex with me"

"I guess we all win then" Michael said before walking off.

"Calum, help me"

"I think you should tell Maddie"

"I know"

"Technically you haven't gone through with anything. You tried to back out but Michael wouldn't let you and you haven't taken the money"

"Yeah but Maddie's not stupid. I still took the bet at the start"

"Yeah but you were a dick then. You didn't care as much for Maddie as you do now. Look at you now, you love her"

"I don't love her yet"

"Keep telling yourself that" Calum said. "Everything will be better if you explain everything to Maddie. She needs to know what's gone on this whole time and you better make it damn clear that she's more than a bet to you"

"Of course I will. She means so fucking much to me. She keeps me sane"

"Then you should go talk to her and explain"

"He doesn't need to" I turned to corner to see Luke stood against the locker and Calum beside him. They both looked at me, shocked.

"Maddie-"

"I can't believe you did this, Luke. I heard everything but I still can't find a reason as to why you agreed with it in the first place"

"I didn't-"

"Save it. I don't know what to believe. Everything you said to me, was it all lies?"

"No, of course not, Maddie. You know how much you mean to me" He approached me, trying to place his hands on my arms. I stepped back away from him.

"Do I? I thought I did but I'm really not sure anymore. I thought you'd changed, Luke. I really thought you had. For me. I can't believe I fell for it. I'm just another girl you can add to your stupid list. I lost a friend because of you and all for this. Thanks for fucking everything, Hemmings"

"Maddie, wait-"

"Luke, just let her cool off first" Calum told him as I walked off. I left the school and went to the park. Fuck Luke Hemmings and his stupid friends.
