Chapter Four

Ben just stood there looking at me, I turned on my heel and went out into the living room, everyone was looking at me but I walked right over to Ponyboy,

"I want him out of my house." I said coldly pointing at Ben, Pony jumped up and threw his arm around my neck,

"I think we need to go for a walk, Lillian." he whispered in my ear while pulling me out the door. Outside I yanked away from him and stood a good three feet away from him.

"I want him out Pony." I said simply

"Why what did he ever do to you, he is homeless Lilly!" Pony yelled at me, I took one step closer to him

"He thinks this rumble is a good thing, and if any of you get hurt it will be his fault for encouraging it!" I yelled back, Pony ran hooked his fingers in his pockets and looked at me,

"Lilly, it's a rumble, people get hurt, deal with it." he said in an annoyed tone, I felt my face get hot with anger and my head started pounding, I walked right up to Pony

"Hurt," I said slowly through gritted teeth, "You mean like this?"

And that's when it happened, I punched my big brother. It happened so fast, I hit his straight in the nose and it was bleeding. I felt myself go rigid as Pony began to lift his head to look at me, before I got a look I turned on me heel and took off down the street running. I had no idea where I was going or what I was going to do, so I just ran.

I ended up at the old railroad tracks, sitting by an abandoned gas station. I rested my head on my knees. I couldn't believe I just hit Ponyboy, my older brother who would do anything for me, the person who was always there for me....

Flashback to when Lilly was 10 and Pony was 12

I woke up, for what was probably the 100th time that night. Rain was pounding against my window. I could hear Darry snoring in the room next to mine, at least he could sleep. Ever since mom and died I have not been able to sleep at all. Suddenly a thunder clap shook the house, I jumped out of bed. Lightning lit up the sky, and another boom shook the house. I ran out of my room and into Pony and Soda's. I went over to Pony who was sleeping.

"Pony..." I said poking his shoulder, he grumbled and rolled over

"Pony, wake up." I said a little louder while poking him. Just as I said this another round of thunder boomed outside and I screamed

"Ponyboy Curtis!!" Pony shot up in bed and so did Soda, they both looked at me,

"Lilly, what you doing out of bed honey?" Soda asked me. I went to talk but I realized I was crying, I was all choked up.

"T-t-the s-s-storm scared me." I stammered rubbing my eyes. I felt arms around me, Pony had lifted me up and plopped me right in the middle of him and Soda. He pulled the quilt around me and I shuttered,

"Shh, the storms not going to get you, me and Soda are going to keep you safe." he whispered in my ear

"Promise?" I whimpered

"I promise." he whispered "Now go to sleep."
