Elana.

For a rather small girl, Thyne had a tight grip. When she had realized we were late for class, she'd advised me to quickly grab my things while she gathered her own. When I notified her that I had grabbed everything, she gripped my wrist and hurried me out of our room.

"What's your first period?" Thyne asked as we dashed down a long set of stairs.

"Ancient Magic and Discoveries." I replied. On the long car ride to the school, I spent awhile reading over my schedule so I would have it memorized. I didn't want to keep it on me at all times.

"Excellent," Thyne exclaimed as she abruptly stopped by a large door, which was evidently painted dark black a long time ago, but had been updated frequently. It was obvious this part of the school was older than the rest. "We have period one together."

I smiled at her as she opened the cracked door and stepped inside. Her grip on my wrist loosened, but was still firm enough that she had a good lead on me. It was fine with me, having I didn't know where I was going at all.

"Fairy Godmother! I found her!" Thyne called as we entered the room.

My stomach jumped as everyone turned to look at us. I adverted my eyes to my shoes, trying as hard as I could to keep away from eye contact.

"Thyne! Thank you, dear." Fairy Godmother chirped.

My eyes floated up as the short, stout woman hurries toward us. She's grinning brightly and offers her hand to me, which I slowly took, passing a glance to Thyne. She passed back a look of approval, telling me not to be nervous, but I was.

As Fairy Godmother lead me to the front of the classroom, my shoulder bumped into someone standing in the walkway. I looked up and my glance was tangled with a rather attractive boy, with hair that flowed slightly below his shoulders and his outfit outlined an obviously toned body.

I could feel my face flush pink as Fairy Godmother helped me step up on a raised part of the floor. The carpet was soft under my sneakers, which were old and beaten up and almost embarrassing.

"Class, this is Elana!" Fairy Godmother exclaimed excitedly, "Please remember to be friendly and help make our new peer feel welcomed! Elana, is there anything you'd like to tell the class about yourself?"

I stared blankly into the crowd. There were about thirty teenagers besides myself and Thyne, who's approving, exciting smile hadn't faltered. There was a random tickle in my throat which caused me to swallow hard and shaky.

"Um.. My mom's half fish..?" I quietly blurted out.

There was a feeling of tense hesitance before the class burst into laughter. I let out a small laugh, which was followed by Fairy Godmother's confused, awkward chuckling.

"How different." she commented. "Elana, you can take a seat beside Evie, right in front of Thyne."

She pointed to a seat next to a pretty blue haired girl, who shuffled almost excitedly as I started walking in her direction. Thyne straightened herself in her chair as she smiled at me.

I took my seat and glanced over at my seat neighbor, "Hi, I'm Elana. Everyone calls me Ellie."

The blue haired girl looked up quickly. There was a surprised look on her face, which slowly faltered into excited. "I'm Evie, nice to meet you."

Jay.

I slowly took my seat as Fairy Godmother introduced the girl. She was absolutely gorgeous, with long brown hair and a shy expression that seems to hold her features tightly.

My eyes followed her as she slowly made her way to the seat beside Evie, who seemed stiff with nervousness.

"Jeez, talk about a hottie." Carlos whispered in my ear. The smirk on his face was so wide, I could hear it in his words.

I turned my head and shot him a look. "Dibs, dog boy."

Carlos chuckled and rolled his eyes, sitting up straight in his seat as Fairy Godmother started teaching again. I had turned, too, facing the board- but every now and again, my vision would flicker over toward the princess sitting beside Evie.

Her voice was beautiful, even in a whisper, which I could hear her exchanging with Evie and Thyne throughout class. Talking while Fairy Godmother is teaching was one of the biggest no-no's ever, which she had to know, having they'd sent her a rulebook for each teacher.

The bell chimed out in the hallway and everyone stood up while Fairy Godmother called after us to remember our assignment due that coming Monday. Carlos was almost done with his, mine had yet to be started.

"Are you gonna talk to her, Mr. Dibs?" Carlos smirked as we walked up the winding stairway.

"At some point, yeah." I nodded, "Once I figure out how to talk to the granddaughter of the Sea King.."
