I awoke sharply to a loud, metallic crash that seemed to sound in another room, my bound wrists and ankles tugging against the ropes that held me to the solid surface. A pained groan left my chapped lips as the raw skin burned. Where the hell did the squids take me this time?

The metal desk before me was cold against my chest, meaning I hadn't been there long. A dim light hung above the table, casting shadows across the otherwise dark cement room.

A shudder ran through my body as the dampness of the room hit me. It felt like an interrogation room built five hundred feet underground. One I knew I wouldn't enjoy staying in for long. Another metal chair like the one I was bound to sat unoccupied across from me, facing me straight on as if someone was there. I assumed someone would be soon.

Confirming my assumption, the sound of a metal vault door cracking open hit my sensitive ears and a familiar man with brown curly hair and dark-as-night sunglasses came into view, his body clothed in a black uniform with a royal blue patch on his right arm. The emblem of the squid army printed boldly on top.

I stared at the handsome figure as he sat across from me, clearing his throat and scooting closer to the table. His pale arms blotched with blue spots folded themselves on the table as his eyes met mine from behind his shades (or so I thought that's what happened, I couldn't see his eyes due to the dull lighting).

"We want you on our side." His voice came out smooth and yet, hard. Demanding and authoritative, but still soft.

What? No beating around the bush for the Dead General? I scoffed. "Like I would betray everything I am for you, Squid Hybrid."

A sly grin played on the doppelganger's face as he sat back, large hands moving to rest in his lap. "I did. Now look at me."

"You're nothing but a fraud. The real General is back at the kingdom preparing to kick your ass for kidnapping me," I snarled.

The squid hybrid smirked as he leaned forward, pulling down the dark shades and revealing his swirling blue eyes.

A gasp left my throat as those swirling eyes met mine. My thoughts fled, my emotions simmered down to nothing and my eyes hung open half way, my body completely relaxed. I was entranced before I even knew it, and secretly couldn't wait for him to speak again.

The General smirked as he placed the sunglasses down. "He may try to kick my ass, but he'll be too busy saving his from you to try."
