Dark Sonic

Third Person POV

The robot had struck Shadow with a loose wire before Sonic and Tails realized what had happened. Shadow looked down at himself in horror, gagging on his own blood before staggering to his side and his eyes dimming.

"Shadow!" Sonic's voice broke and he ran over to his lover, tripping halfway and slowly getting on his knees. The grass around him started to curl up and turn brown, then a dark gray as if it had been burned. Tails took a step back with wide eyes.

A dark aura started to form around the beloved hero, and his quills turned an ugly navy blue, his eyes colorless. Eggman even looked worried at this side of Sonic, starting to take off in his Eggman before the evil aura of Sonic grabbed Eggman by his neck and pinned him to the ground, beating his head into the dirt repeatedly with a wicked smile as if the pain made him stronger.

With in moments Eggman had stopped moving and Sonic's dark aura slowly faded and he painted, crawling over to Tails and Shadow, tears streaming down his face and the splattered blood of his nemesis over his body.

Shadow's POV

I watched in horror from a bird's eye view, Maria keeled down beside me with a shake of her head. "Only evil may truly defeat evil." She said sadly. "And his evil came from his love for you. Do you still doubt he loves you?" She asked, her blue eyes shimmering. I shook my head. "No. . . No I don't. But, Maria. Am I dead? Forever?" I asked in panic. She shook her head with a small smile.

"You were created to live. Killing you would take much more than that." She said with a small laugh. "You'll be back with them soon enough. . . . If that's what you choose." My eyes widened. "I. . . I get to choose to live?" Maria nodded with a bright smile. "If you go with Sonic you will live with him until next time you return here. . . If you choose to stay here you'll be with me. But I can't guarantee your happyness as much as I wish I could." She said and shook her head slowly. "You have to make a choice soon, Shadow the Hedgehog." She said before standing, looking down on me as if waiting.

. . . I have a choice. I looked up at Maria, the girl who I had failed to save and failed to cure, and down at Sonic who was a snotty mess over my lifeless corpse, clinging desperately to my limp form. . . I couldn't leave him like that. "I choose to live. I said with a deep breath inwards. Maria nodded and hugged me before I felt her grip tighten and her form shrink.

The sound of sobbing overcame me and the feeling of pain returned to my chest, thou ghost it was less. "S-sonic?" Everything was a blue around me, though I cod make out Sonic's form wrapped tightly around me.

His grip loosened and he shot up. "You're alive! Shadow. . . Shadow I. . . I killed Eggman. I didn't mean to! I thought you were dead and. . . " he stopped talkig and hugged me again.

"Yeah. . . I saw what happened. Can we get a hospital?" I asked with a weak laugh, Tails sat beside me, and by the looks of it he had been crying too. Sonic and Tails nodded before helping me up and all of us limped over to the X tornado.
