*Kayla's POV*
I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being watched in my room at the house all alone. I buried myself in the blanket hoping to catch my breath and shake it off, but I just couldn't. My heart sped up as I heard the floorboards creak.
I quickly flipped on the television to hopefully forget, but as soon as it turned on, my face appeared. I flipped stations, but it was just me. All me. Only me. I hit the off button, but it remained on. I threw the remote at it which made it shatter leaving a tiny webcam to sit alone on my dresser.
I got up to smash it, but just as I was about to grab it, I heard a smashing sound in the living room followed by shallow breathing.
"Tyler?" I called as I slowly reached the doorway. I received no response. Suddenly, a shriek hit my ears, a scream that was all too familiar. Jenna's scream.
I ran to her room only find not a thing out of place. She wasn't there. Another shriek followed by hushed, shallow breathing hit my ears. I ran back to the living room to see a figure slumped against the wall. My stomach sank to the pit of my stomach.
There laid Jenna all battered and bruised in a gory manner.
"Why didn't you save me?" her small voice squeaked.
"I-"
"He's dead, too! It's your fault!"
"W-who's dead?"
She pointed to the corner of the room where Tyler laid in a heap on the floor. She repeated over and over again how it was my fault until I felt a pair of strong arms tackle me to the ground.
"It's your turn," the once innocent voice of my niece giggled.
I squirmed until I got a look at my assailant. I froze. Dylan. He grabbed hold of me firmly. Pure terror surged through me. He shook my shoulders and yelled my name.
"Kayla!"
"Kayla!"
"Kayla!""Kayla, wake up," Tyler said as he lightly and gently shook my shoulders. I could barely breathe as tears ran down my face,"Kay, relax. It's just a bad dream."
I sat up and rubbed my head, but that crazy dream made it harm to calm myself for some reason. I cried silently into my hands as I felt Tyler sit up beside me. The creaking of the bed as he moved made me jump since it sounded like that in the dream. Fuck.
Tyler rubbed my back and whispered reassuring words in my ear. He kissed my cheek and held me close to his body as I wiped my eyes. I didn't want him to know how much it'd all got to me. Stupid fucking hormones didn't make it any easier.
Fuck my life.
"Babe, breathe. It's over. I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere. It's gonna be okay, I promise."
"Sorry," I whispered,"You can go back to sleep. I'm alright."
"No, I'm gonna stay up until you feel better."
"I'm gonna go piss," I said hoping he'd fall back to sleep by the time I got back.
Of course, he didn't.
He sat there looking concerned even though I was longer crying or breathing too much harder than normal. He quickly made room as I shut the door, and he hugged me tightly as soon as I was back in bed. I sighed and laid up against him.
"Wanna talk about it, Kaybear?"
"You haven't called me that since I was sixteen," I giggled.
"I know, but it made you laugh."
