"So where exactly are we going?" Tyler asked as he slipped into the car.

"You'll see," I smiled.

"So you don't know either."

"Nope."

"Well, then go ahead," he chuckled,"Just as long as I get radio control."

I rolled my eyes and agreed as I started up the car. Rain lightly drizzled, but it wasn't enough to keep anyone indoors. It actually made the aimless drive really nice. I had no idea where to go, but it sure was better than arguing while cramped up in a room.

"So what do you feel like doing?" I asked.

"I don't know. What day is it anyway?"

"Look at your phone."

"It's Friday the 31st."

"Wait it's the 31st? That means it's-"

"Halloween."

We both looked at each other realizing our sudden predicament.

"Fuck!"

See, since I had forgot, that meant Jenna had no costume. And because she had no costume, she couldn't trick or treat. And if she couldn't do that, she'd kill me. And if she threw a fit and killed me, I'd obviously die. How do I cram all this shit in?

The real question was how the fuck did I forgot Halloween in the first place!

"How did we forget?"

"Your asking the guy who forgot his own birthday."

"Yeah, but still-"

"We can take her trick or treating at Walmart," Tyler suggested,"Let her buy a few bags of candy to make it up to her like your parents did for us that one time."

"We hated that."

"But she's not us."

"She's basically Nancy's clone. Nancy hated it, too. You do the math."

"Then what do we do?"

"We go buy her a cheap costume, and then we can go get food. Deal?"

"Deal as long as I get to pick what you wear when we take her."

He raised his eyebrows and smirked at me. I rolled my eyes, but before I could even say no, he pulled out the puppy dog face. It's was a dirty trick, and it wasn't t fair, but he doesn't fight fair. Who could say no to those big blue puppy dog eyes?

No one.

"If I get to do the same to you, then it's a deal."

"You're on."

That's when the real fun began.

See, he and I should never be allowed to shop together. I mean never. It rarely ends up pretty for anyone, and I knew what to expect coming in. We'd been kicked out of too many stores to count, and I hoped Party City wouldn't become another.
