"Wait...what? What do you mean, 'the darkness?' Who's the darkness?" I questioned. She scrambled away from me, her eyes alight with fear. For the first time, I got a good look at her. She was a fox with soft black fur. Her eye color was constantly changing, and I figured it had something to do with her emotions. She was wearing a bright green crop top and white skinny jeans. On her feet she wore black combat boots. Her eyes were yellow as she watched me, seemingly shocked.

"The darkness...the shadow of a shadow...the nightmare...the promise...the sacrifice..." Suddenly, she broke off. Her eyes turned purple and she tilted her head to the side, her ears flopping slightly. "You look familiar. Have I run into you before?" She wondered. I was about to reply when she let out a screech and jumped to her feet, her eyes an aqua color. "You work for them, don't you! They sent you here to get rid of me!" The aqua in her eyes disappeared and turned dark blue. "They won't help me...they just want me out of the way..." I blinked a few times and shook my head.

"I'm sorry, it's just...your eyes are really distracting." I noted, not taking my own eyes off them. They turned red and her fists clenched.

"Staring is rude!" She snarled. On the last word, her tail snapped angrily and a wave of energy blasted me backwards. I hit the wall and slid to the floor again. I got to my feet, groaning.

"Look, fox, if you want to fight, I'm all for it. Just not right now." I growled. She crossed her arms.

"Kyoki. My name is Kyoki, not fox." She said quietly, not looking at me. I pursed my lips.

"Okay... Kyoki, I've had a long day of tests and I just want to find my sister and go to bed." I told her. Her elegant eyes turned blue again, with a light hue of yellow.

"Sister..." Her voice was quiet and wistful, as if she was remembering something. I sighed and put a hand on her shoulder.

"Talk to me tomorrow and I'll be more than happy to help." I informed her. Her eyes flashed red and she batted my hand away. I had decided that her eye's natural color was the aqua blue, because it was the color they most commonly reverted to.

"I don't need help! You ran in to me, remember? So what if the darkness kills us all?" Her eyes had a strange light in them that unnerved me. Her lips curled in to a smirk and she started laughing slightly. "The people here deserve to die...they hurt me...they torture me...the darkness can kill them..." She twitched slightly, her eyes dark green. "I'll help..." I grabbed her and shook her roughly. She blinked and shook her head.

"Wha-what? What happened? I didn't zone out, did I?" She asked, confused. The color drained in her face when I said nothing. Wariness of the unstable girl in front of me was overwhelming, but I tried not show it. The poor fox was obviously an experiment gone wrong. Like with Crimson's sister, Oblivion, G.U.N. probably didn't want to waste time on them. I wondered how long Kyoki had before the agency saw her as a danger and...

"I'm so sorry...I...I don't have an excuse. I'll...I'll just go." Kyoki murmured, her tail tucked, her ears drooped. She turned away and started running off.

"Kyoki, wait!" I called. But she was already gone. I stared after her, not sure how I felt about our strange encounter. She was clearly not right in the head. After all, they named her 'madness.'
