"Him?" I repeated, confused. Kyoki was trembling as she sank down to the floor, her back pressed up against the wall, her knees pulled tight to her chest. She stared at something only she could see, her eyes yellow in nervous fear, slightly glazed. Oblivion's lip curled, still in her Fallen form, as she glared at the black fox.

"Think about it, Shadow," Oblivion spat, looking at me. "This isn't the past. So who do you think would want to pull you into a world right before your life was ruined? Who would want revenge like this, and is powerful enough to achieve it?" My eyes widened, then narrowed, and I looked at Crimson, who was thinking the same thing as me. Kyoki's eyes turned red and she let out a howl, leaping at Oblivion, her claws reaching for the angel's face. Oblivion swung her wings forward and the gust of wind that followed caused Kyoki to slam into the wall again. She whimpered and curled up, her eyes deep blue.

"Pain is my punishment...pain is my punishment..." She whispered under her breath. She whimpered again, squeezing her eyes shut, shaking terribly. Crimson's eyes softened and she crouched down beside the fox, smoothing down her fur gently.

"Her mind is too far gone for me to read, but... Something tells me she didn't volunteer to work for him." She reported. Kyoki flinched away from Crimson's touch, her head still buried in her knees. Oblivion sighed and faded back to her normal form, her fur it's normal silvery grey, her eye gold, the other covered by her eyepatch.

"Come on, let's get her inside the room. We don't want G.U.N. to take her away again." She suggested. Crimson nodded and I helped her pick up the terrified fox. I covered her mouth when she started to howl, and she bit my finger. I cursed, yanking my hand away from her. I narrowed my eyes, anger flashing in them, and her eyes shown yellow in terror again.

"PLEASE NO!" She screamed, tumbling out of Crimson's arms and scrambling away. I walked over to her, trying to calm her down, but she only screamed again. It was piercing and painful, making me flinch.

"We're trying to help you!" I snarled, trying to reach for her again. The moment my hand touched her arm, she let out another terrible cry, squeezing her eyes shut, pushing herself against the wall in fear.

"PLEASE! Don't punish me, please...no....please!" She begged. My stomach turned cold when I realized what was going on. I stood up straight, feeling numb. Crimson put a hand on my arm, reading my thoughts.

"Shadow, it's okay..." She tried to tell me. I shook my head as Oblivion coaxed Kyoki into the room, closing the door before anyone could come down the hall.

"Crimson, she's terrified of me. She thinks...she thinks I'm him..." I reminded her. Crimson pursed her lips.

"It's only because you lookalike. Besides...we might be able to use this to our advantage." I furrowed my eyebrows, then I understood.

"No. I'm not pretending to be him. Not even to figure out what's going on. Besides, she probably wouldn't say anything except to beg me not to hurt her." I pointed out. Crimson shrugged.

"It was just an idea. I didn't say you had to do it." She explained nonchalantly. I looked at my feet.

"I know." I muttered. Crimson smiled slightly and put a hand on my shoulder.

"Come on, let's go make sure she knows the difference between you and your shadow." She laughed slightly, gesturing with her head to the room. I hesitated, then nodded, and together we went to make friends with Mephiles's pawn.

A/N: Sorry it's short...don't really have anything else to say. I'll howl to you later!
