Mephiles appeared in the middle of the dark room Kyoki was locked in. The black fox's blue eyes turned white with panicked fear and she pressed herself up against the wall. Mephiles smirked and walked forward. He didn't care if anyone else looked in to the room, for he was invisible to all but Kyoki. The fox began to scream, but Mephiles grabbed her chin in his hand, and she immediately cut off, trembling uncontrollably. Mephiles clicked his tongue.
"Now, now, my little fox, there's no need to scream." The demon cooed. Tears were sliding down Kyoki's face and Mephiles let out a laugh. "Pain is a punishment, Kyoki. You know what you have to do." Kyoki was shaking so much Mephiles took his hand off of her so she wouldn't pass out before he was done talking.
"I...I can't...I...I won't..." The fox stuttered. Mephiles's eyes flashed dangerously and Kyoki flinched so badly she fell to the floor. Mephiles crouched down beside her.
"I'm going to pretend..." He began, his finger tracing the scar on her back. Kyoki let out a scream of pain as the demon duplicated the agony of the removal her kitusne. "...that you didn't say that." Mephiles put his entire hand on Kyoki's back and a bloodcurdling scream wrenched itself from the fox's mouth. Tears were streaming as the black fox howled in agony.
"PLEASE! STOP!" She sobbed. Mephiles pushed on her back and the scream intensified, then he pulled is hand away and it stopped. The crying continued as Kyoki trembled and panted on the floor, tears making her fur wet and her chest rise and fall uncontrollably.
"Now, my little fox..." Mephiles put a finger under Kyoki's chin again, making the fox flinch even though no pain came. Mephiles smirked at the terror in her white eyes. "...what is it you have to do?" Kyoki took a shuddering breath, tears still dripping down her face.
"I have to lead them into the trap..." She managed to say.
"Who?" Mephiles questioned, his voice thick with darkness. Kyoki closed her eyes, trying to shut out what was happening.
"Who?!" Mephiles repeated forcefully. Kyoki flinched again.
"Shadow's friends." She said finally. Mephiles smirked and stood up, pulling away from the frightened girl.
"Very good, my little fox. And remember, pain is your punishment. Even if it kills you." Then the demon disappeared, leaving Kyoki to cry in the corner of the dark room. She couldn't do it...she couldn't hurt innocent people like that! But it was either strangers or herself, and Kyoki had survived too long to give up now... She would just have to let the insanity take control, that way she wouldn't be burdened with leading them all to their deaths...
