Phil’s POV
“You’re good mate. Real, good. It’s fine. She’s just a friend. She’s just a sick friend and you’re trying to make her feel better.” I adjusted my button up green shirt before picking up a thermos of soup that I made when I woke up and her Nemo shirt, nicely folded. “You’re good.” I ventured out into the hall and made the short 3 minute trip to Casey’s door, grinning at the morning sunshine that shone through the high windows. It’s fine. Everything is fine. I made it to her door and softly knocked, smile still on my face as Rachel answered, her hair curly and poofy.
“Yeah?” She asked groggily, rubbing her eyes.
“Um… Hi.” I said with an awkward laugh, “Is Casey here?” Her eyes lit up and she took my hand, pulling me in,
“She just woke up a little bit ago, but then she fell asleep again, but I’m sure she’ll wake up any second now.” She slowed down a bit and leaned back to mutter something to me, “She keeps on throwing up.” My face paled as Rachel continued on, the temperature of the room freezing. I looked at her, only wearing cotton shorts and a tank top,
“Aren’t you cold?” But she just shrugged her shoulders and went into the bathroom. I sat the thermos down on a dresser and went over to her bed, gently sitting down. Casey let out a soft moan and rolled over, her face looking pained. I slowly leaned over and whispered in her ear,
“Casey? Caaasey.” She rolled over again to where she was facing me and her eyelids fluttered open, “There’s those beautiful gold eyes.” She attempted a weak smile but it ended in a grimace.
“Sorry.” She mumbled, “My stomach’s still a little queasy.” I smiled at her,
“Well, I think I have something that can make you feel better!” I reached behind me and grabbed the Nemo shirt, displaying it in front of her.
“Ooooh!” Her face lit up and she sat up a bit, reaching for it, “Oh, Phil! You’re so sweet! I love Nemo! How did you know?” As she spoke her voice steadily grew worse, by the end sounding like her throat was sand paper.
“Awhheh.” I pouted a little, “Don’t talk, it sounds like it hurts!”
“But then how can I talk to you?” She pouted back, looking genuinely upset about it.
“You need to get better, then we can talk all you want.” I gently rubbed her arm as Rachel came back out of the bathroom, her hair up in a bun and wearing black skinny jeans and a white v-neck t-shirt with some converse.
“Going somewhere?” I asked, looking at the clock, almost noon.
“Yup. You’re on Casey-duty. Me and the girls are going to wrestle Zoe into something nice for the party tonight.” I smiled at that, glad to be here with Casey, even if we couldn’t talk much. She blew us a kiss goodbye and then left, leaving us two alone.
“Oh! I got you some soup!” I smiled, walking back to the dresser and grabbing the thermos, shaking it. But then I stopped, why did I shake it? I just laughed at myself and returned to her bedside,
“Doctor Lester is at your service tonight!" She smiled and scooted over, patting the spot on the bed next to her with a little cough. I smiled and jumped on the bed right beside her, she yelped a little and clutched at her stomach, making me feel terrible.
"Oh my gosh... I'm... I'm so sorry!" I stammered giving her a hug, but then she stiffened at my touch, making me abruptly release her and retract a little. "S-sorry, I'm just a big hugger." I said nervously, but she smiled back, holding out her arms, attempting a slight whisper,
"I love hugs…" I raised my eyebrows and held out my arms, wrapping her up in a bear hug, "Especially when I'm sick." She said, giggling.
