Molly’s POV
“How can you not have them?!” I shook my head at the cruise manager and started down the hall, digging in my bag. I just need to stay calm, right? Yes. Pain is caused by desire, get rid of desire to get rid of pain. “I freaking desire to have some tulsi leaves!” I blew out a long breath, “I should have some… where are they?!” I dropped my bag at my side after taking my book out of it, searching the pages, “There has to be another way to help fever...” I turned a corner and ended up on the ground, my bag tearing and bottles of herbs and oils sprawling across the carpeted hall.
“Oh, god, I’m so sorry!” I ignored the voice and started picking up the small glass bottles (not broken thankfully), shaking my head,
“No, no, it’s fine. I wasn’t paying attention…” I muttered, piling all of my items in front of me. “Dangit.” I looked at the hole in my bag and rubbed my face. No desire, no pain. I’m fine, this bag is fine—everything’s good, everything’s happy…
“No, it’s my fault, I just wasn’t looking where I was going…” I took a deep breath and bunched my long yellow skirt together, making a small pouch to place all of the bottles. See? We’re good, we’re happy. I piled all of the bottles into my skirt and without another word I got up and started heading back towards Casey’s room.
“There’s got to be something I have that can help…” I muttered, looking down at all of the bottles.
“Hey, miss!” I sighed and turned around to see the man that ripped up my bag, but then stopped at the sight of him.
He had a strong jaw line, clean shaven, and eyes that seemed to pierce through me, a startling light green/brown, though they looked tired. His brown hair was sticking up a bit and looked like he had ran his hand through it many times.
“You forgot your book.” He handed me the tattered notebook, but I still stared at him, trying to figure him out. Something about his eyes intrigued me—made me want to know more.
“What’s your name?” I asked, still clutching my skirt up.
“Uh, Chris.” He said, looking mildly confused, “Chris Kendall.” I dropped the book in my make shift bag and started walking down the hall, gesturing for him to follow. “What’s your name?” He asked as he trotted up beside me, giving me an unsure smile.
“Molly.” I said shortly, turning into Casey and Rachel’s room.
“Did you get it?” Casey mumbled, her throat sounding worse than earlier. She looked pale and her eyes sunken in.
“No, there aren’t any leaves on the ship—but I’ve found this guy—” I pointed to Chris and dumped the contents of my skirt onto Rachel’s bed, except for my notebook, “—Is going to watch you while I go and find some on land.” Casey groaned and rolled over, pulling the blanket over her head,
“Isn’t there something you can give me now?” Chris looked around awkwardly before noticing a box of raisins (Casey’s favorite snack) on a dresser.
“Raisin tea?” He asked, picking up the box. My eyes went wide, why didn’t I think of that?!
“Go for it!” I called, grabbing some money off of Rachel’s end table and stuffing it in my jean jacket pocket—I’ll probably pay her back. “I’ll be back in a tick!” I jogged out of the room, book firmly under my arm as I made my way to the dock.
Chris’s POV
“Raisin tea, huh?” The blonde girl asked from under the blanket. I bit my lip and took the box, moving it over to the small counter top stove and boiling some water.
