Alana walked out of her room and found her parents still talking. Perfect
"What do you need, love?" her mom asked when she noticed her.
"I'll just be outside for a bit." Without giving her time to answer, she made her way towards the front door. She looked back to make sure they weren't watching. Her mom's bag sat on a chair out of Mary's sight. Alana quietly walked towards the bag, dug out a wallet, and stole $30 from it before heading back to the front door. Once she left the house, she stuffed the money in her pants pocket and started her journey down the road.
The voice followed her as she rushed into the busy highways.
I believe in you, Alana. I always have.*~~~*
That night, Alana sat down on a bench after a long day's walk away from home. Being in the middle of the summer, the night felt quite warm.
Confused, much?
"I don't even know where I am right now," she replied, twiddling her thumbs.
Here's a clue. When you're lost, look up.
That's just what she did. Hung high above the road was a large sign that had an arrow pointing north. Right under the arrow in large, bold words was 'Pensacola'.
"William, you're a genius!" exclaimed Alana, jumping up from the bench. She followed the arrow with a smile plastered on her face.
I know I am!
Though she passed a store with multiple TVs in the window that aired the news. The reporter seemed to be describing a missing child.
"... a 12 year old girl, brown hair, blue eyes, 4'9" in height, and will most likely be wearing a blue T-shirt and black shorts. Again, Alana Lonoway, last seen in her home in Miami, a young 12 year old girl..."
Alana's face became pale and full of surprise as she watched her picture flash across the multiple screens while the man described her once again.
Hey, you're famous!
"On the news already?" she asked more to herself than her brother's voice. People would be looking for her now, so she had to continue om before someone ruins her journey. It would be harder for her to use her $30. Acting quick, she rushed down the highway, not looking back, not thinking twice.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
