The fact that Alana was in Pensacola by herself on a journey while everyone believed that she was missing was enough to keep her up through the warm summer night. The night sky had begun to shift to a dark gray as the sun began to rise in the east, lighting the path that led to the Haven of Our Lady of Peace Hospital that was just up ahead.
I told you that you could do it, didn't I?
"That's all you've ever done. You've always told me that I was capable of anything. Thank you for being my big brother and my inspiration."
I love you.
Filled with hope and confidence, Alana sauntered into the hospital. She walked right up to the front desk and displayed a sweet smile. "Excuse me."
The lady sitting behind the counter looked up from her computer. Her brows furrowed when her brown eyes met Alana's bright blue eyes. "Hey... aren't you the missing girl on the news? Ellen Lowensy?"
"Alana Lonoway," she corrected her. "I need to see Dr. Nevue. That's why I'm here!"
The lady stared at her for a few more moments before reaching for the phone and speaking into it. "Dr. Nevue, you are needed at the front desk." Her voice echoed throughout the hospital.
Alana sat down in a chair and waited for the arrival of the doctor.
You know, I miss Dr. Nevue.
"I know. I miss him, too."
The desk lady looked up at her, wondering who she was talking to.
Moments later, a familiar face with a shaggy, brown beard walked in. "You called?"
The lady pointed at the young brunette sitting in the chair. Now it was the doctor's turn to furrow his brows as he looked at her. "Alana? Is that you? Weren't you reported missing last night?"
"Yes, but that doesn't matter right now. I need you for something important."
"But Alana. I'm in the middle of treating a patient." He walked towards her and sat in a chair beside her.
"I don't care! Doctor, I need you. NOW!"
"Okay, okay! Nancy, do me a favor and assign the patient a different doctor. Alana, what do you need?"
"Just follow me!" she took the doctor's hand and dragged him out the hospital.
"Can you at least tell me where we're going?"
"No, David," Alana called him by his first name. "It's a surprise!"
Dr. Nevue allowed her to continue on pulling him farther and farther away from the hospital.
Alana was so excited to finally be able to have back what was once hers. She was so excited that she didn't realize she had started to jog, almost making the doctor trip and fall behind her. In no time did they reach William's new home. Alana led him down rows and rows of tombstones until she stopped at one. It read:

William Lonoway
1998 - 2014
You will be remembered by your greatness

Eh. Needs garlic.
Alana ignored him and turned to Dr. Nevue, her eyes glistening with hope and excitement. "I believe you can bring my brother back! After hearing about how that old widow was brought back to life, I ran away because I know you can fix him!"
Dr. Nevue was silent for a moment. A sad expression was visible on his wrinkly face.
"What are you waiting for, David? Do your magic!" Alana shook him a bit.
"Alana.. I'm sorry, but.. I can't," he said slowly.
A frown replaced her smile. "What do you mean you can't?"
"I-.."
"OH! Of course, silly me!" Alana interrupted, digging into her pocket and pulling out the crumpled $30, handing it to the doctor. "How about now?"
Leaning down to her height, the doctor laid a hand gently on her shoulder. "Alana, honey. I can't. If it was 2014 again, I'd probably be able to, but he's been dead for over a year now. There is nothing I or any professional can do about it. I'm sorry."
As he spoke, tears began to stream down her cheeks. "No! Please, you have to! I came all the way from Miami to get to my brother back! You have to!" her words came out in sobs.
"I'm sorry, Alana. I wish I could."
She cried just as hard as she did in 2014 when William left her to fend for herself. Hard enough to where she fell on the grass that grew above William's body.
"I'm sorry," Dr. Nevue repeated as he lifted her from the ground and held her. She cried into his shoulder, the tears of 2014 repeating themselves. He took her back to the hospital parking lot and set her down in the passenger seat. She hugged her knees and continued to sob as Dr. Nevue started the car and drove off. As they drove past the cemetery, Alana could have sworn she saw William standing over his grave with a sad expression on his face, waving his last goodbye. After his figure disappeared from sight, she didn't hear his voice again.
