I could just barely see the running figure of Davis as I followed quickly after, he was running pretty fast. But I think I could caught up, or stick to his trail. And with that little thought I took off after him. This would have been a great time for my motorcycle right now...
From a distance I could see him entering the woods. I stopped. 'Why in the world would he be going into the woods?' I thought briefly before continuing on, seeing as that I was losing him. I ran after, into the woody forest.
Eight minutes into the woods, I had tripped. My foot snagged onto what seemed like a ditch on the uneven dirt ground. It was like some weird chain reaction. My foot lazed back, followed by my leg and my knee hitting the ground once that happened the other leg did the same and before I knew it I fell forward and I subconsciously held my arms out. Unfortunately, I didn't land properly on my left arm, my writst bent backwards and as soon as it hit the ground I heard a sickening crunch.
I gasped as soon as it registured to my brain that it was a crunching of my own bones. My second day here and I've already jumped off a cliff, kissed a boy I hardly knew, and broken my wrist. And here I was thinking it was going to be boring.
I lifted my head and looked out as I laid on the ground, slightly too stunned to move. From what I could see; Davis had stopped running and looked back, he was watching me; now only that but he had been watching me take the fall. Once our eyes connected, he took it as a chance to make a run for it again. He didn't even look back after that.
I wanted to slap myself. Why did I have to follow that dickwad? Just for a few answers? Can some spell out stupid for me, anyone?
With one hand basically crippled, I press the other one underneath me and pushed myself up. It's a good thing this wasn't the first time I've ever broken a bone, and I thanked the stars that this was nothing compared to my recent injuries. Slowly I pulled my foot from the ground and stood up. I looked around me now, I was in the middle of no where. I couldn't tell if this was south, or north. I didn't remember which way I came from either....
Shoot.
* *
I had finally decided after what felt like hours to me, that I'd better find a high place to see where exactly I landed myself into. The tree in front of me seemed to fill that bill perfectly.
Back in with my friends, Crad and Nikki, I used to climb so many trees, small, medium and high; but I've never climbed one with an injury. I'm an expert at tree climbing but this is going to be a little different. Luckily, it seemed like this tree's branches were broad and steady enough for me to use them like steps, the first one was low enough for me to get a strong hold on it. I jumped up and grabbed my right arm over it and pull myself up, but once I lifted my body into the air the rough skin of the branch prickled mine. I quickly brought a leg and my elbow over to get a complete balance and prevent the upcoming blisters I was going to get, hanging from the tree.
I did the same procedure for the rest, until I made it all the way the top. I sat neatly on the edge and looked over. From where I sat I saw everyting, this was possible one of the heightest tree around. Like I said I could see practically everything; except a way out of this forest. From the east side, I could see what looked like a cliff and a river bank underneath, instead of a body of water like the one the others had introduced me to.
I looked to the west and saw nothing but trees. Oh gosh, I really am lost!
CRACKLE
CRACKLE
My eyes snapped open as the startling sound, and sure enough it was coming from underneath me. The branch slipped back as it started breaking, I had to think fast.
With my left foot I steadied it onto other branch near by, and I dangerously swung my other leg there, and just before the branch to was currently sitting on gave out I jumped up.
Both my feet standing on another tree branch, that was great right? Not exactly. I wasn't really at balance, and it all came at once. I tilted forward and for a sec I realized it, I was falling!
Flailing my arms around, I desperatly tried balancing myself, but apparently gravity wanted to teach me a thing or two. It was the final attempt and I ended up falling, anyway, it was a straight from where I was. I knew that this fall could actually kill me if I didn't use what I know to use. I tucked my knees in, arched my back and tilted my head. In a matter of seconds I hit the ground and landed on the balls of my feet, I rolled quickly after. But my face stung when I hit almost every tree branches out there, and despite the extra precautions I took for safety I still manage to have broken something.
You'd think after a while I'd stop right? Nope, apparently gravity wanted to introduce me to his friend the laws of motion as I began rolling uncontrollably down the small steeps. An object in motion that is in motion will stay in motion unless an unbalanced force acts upon it.
That's just what happened when I hit something hard and passed out...
