Why do I feel so alone?

Adam's POV

It was getting to me a lot. I mean don't get me wrong, I like being alone... Well... I mean, i don't mind it. But lately, I just didn't want to be alone anymore. I mean it got so bad last week that I drove down to my parents house and asked to have Max. Of course they were confused, but they never really ask questions so they gave him to me. And he's sat with me all weekend whilst I watch crappy re-runs until 3 in the morning.

He keeps running away from me and is currently sitting at the door. I know he wants to go home. I sigh and grab my car keys.

'Alright buddy, you've done your do's, you can go home'

I put him on my lap, pull out of my drive, and listen to some sad hippie music all the way there.

'Adam dear, come in, we were wondering if we were ever going to get Max back!'

'Sorry mom, just missed him I guess...'

'Well that's alright darling don't apologise, do you wan't some apple pie? I just made some'

'Yeah sure why not'

I wandered into the kitchen after my mom and sat down.

'Hey, where's dad'

'Oh! He's in the garage helping a lovely girl he met at church fix up her beat up old car, you could go help out if you want. I'll call you when your pie is ready'

She's probably 100 years old. I laughed under my breath, shrugged, and mooched off to see how Dad was doing.

I swung open the Garage door and saw Dad, peering into the Bonnet of an old 1965 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350 in Cherry red. It was magnificent.

'Woah Dad who's car is this?!'

And out from underneath the car laying on a creeper, came the most beautiful creature I ever saw. She stood up, brushed herself off and smiled.

'It's mine, my Dad gave it to me as a gift before I came here, she's a beauty huh'

I just stared at her. Dumbstruck. She had beautiful dirty blond hair that fell in messy waves all the way down to her hips, and the brightest blue ocean eyes. Oh and freckles. You can't miss those adorable freckles. She had a grey beanie on, black shorts, and a red checkered shirt. I also caught sight of a small tattoo of a dream catcher on her left shoulder bone. She was so perfect.

'Y-yeah she's gorgeous'

She grinned and stuck out her hand.

'I'm Sadie'

I shook her hand.

'Adam, my name's Adam'

'It's a pleasure Adam!'

There was a short pause.

'So are you a car guy Adam?'

'Well, I mean yeah sort of, I like to think I am, I've actually got a 2012 Ford Mustang GT at home...'

'Oh sweet! Maybe we could race sometime'

She laughed and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

'Totally...' I chuckled.

As soon as she smiled again my butterflies raged. She made me super nervous.

'Hey do you wanna help me tune up this old girl? She may be fun to look at but she's a total pain in my ass, i have to give her fix up's at least twice a week'

'Sure'

'Cool'

She chucked me a tool kit and I walked over to my Dad, who still had his face buried in he car's mechanisms.

'How you doing Dad?'

'Honestly, this is alien to me son, i have no idea what I'm doing, this car is was definately put together by martians' he whispered, not wanting Sadie to hear.

I laughed and patted him on the back.

We twiddled around with the car for over an hour, Sadie doing most of the work. Which made me and my dad a little flustered and embarrassed, especially because she had this smirk on her face that signalled to us that she knew how absolutely useless we were, but she was too polite to say anything.

She sighed and wiped her forehead.

'She'll be set for a couple of weeks now, thank you guys so much'

She skipped over to my dad and gave him a friendly hug, and then I received one. She held on a little longer than anticipated, but I didn't mind.

'Hey, you guys, as a reward for all of our efforts why don't we go grab something to eat?'

'No thank you sweetheart, I have to go in and help Joan, but thank you anyways' my dad smiled at her.

'Aw well that's too bad Randal'

Her gaze averted to me.

'How about you Adam?'

'Yeah, sure I'm up for that..'

'Awesome! I'll take you in Callie'

'I'm assuming Callie is your car' I chuckled

'Well duh' she grinned. 'It's not my horse that I was just about to whistle'

She laughed and I couldn't help but join in.
