Across the decades and a little over a century our dependence on fossil fuels has grown. Predominantly due to the readily availableness and its ease to distribute. The dependence on the supply, by the overwhelming demand, has given existence to a monopolized infrastructure controlling every aspect of the energy industry. Regardless of the propaganda preached intended to veil the clandestine operations, the number one goal for any energy company is to achieve the highest possible out pay.
Recently, with the introduction of the Clean Air Act and a sudden concern of our environment auto manufactures have been forced to design higher quality and more efficient designs. In doing so, the fuels had to undergo a complete alteration to provide the specifications these engines now required to run smoothly. Thirty years ago vehicles ran off gasoline, and in today's vehicles we use a much different, a much more reconstructed gasoline-like substance known as reformulated gas. This gas contains various antioxidants along with an extensive list of different compounds. Even diesel fuels have been tampered with to improve compression ratios, emission deposits, and up to BTU's.
There has been millions of dollars and man hours researching alternative fuels. Basically, the only hard truth we have discovered points us in the direction of using hydrogen and hydrogen only. This is in part that hydrogen is a very clean burn, also containing enough BTU's and is even available in air. The problem lays with hydrogen's evaporation temperature; to practically use in vehicles we would have to compress it to ten-thousand psi. Simply, we cannot use such a dangerous fuel responsibly without killing off a few unobservant people.
In order to accurately solve the problem of providing easy, reliable energy to move vehicles engineers need to rethink our transportation system in all. Gasoline, ethanol, methane, diesel, all these fuels simply do not work for the demands and regulations set by the people. Instead of spending money and time reinventing transportation, energy companies consistently throw old ideas at new problems. There are many other valuable means of energy waiting to be incorporated in today's vehicles, for example, magnets , solar power, and as ingenious as the Tesla coil.
