"Sapphire, hurry up!" Yelled my older sister.
"I'm coming, Amethyst!" I yelled back. Yep, all of my siblings have gemstone names. Jasper is our little brother, he's in sixth grade. Then me, in tenth grade. Amethyst in twelfth, and Onyx, our oldest brother. Onyx is a sophomore in college.

Amethyst was driving me to school, and she is not very patient. Especially since there's a rumor that Jeremy is going to ask her to homecoming. I wish someone would ask me out. I have a lot of guy friends, but apparently I'm 'just one of the guys'. They don't think of me as dating material.

We got in Amethyst's car and drove to Newton High School. Everyone was talking about homecoming and who's going to ask who. My sister joined her friends and I found mine. Jordan nearly ran me over trying to catch a football one of the guys threw to him. I caught it and threw it back to Theo. Walking over to the bench everyone was surrounding, I took Trevor's hat off his head because he knows hats aren't allowed on school property.

"Hey! Fire, give me my hat."
All my friends call me Fire instead of Sapphire because they're too lazy to say the whole thing.
"Nope. This is mine until the end of the day. You shouldn't have brought it anyway." I retorted.
"Burn!" Shouted the dorks that I call friends.
"Shut up!" Trevor yelled back. Just then the bell rang signalling everybody to get ready for first period. We all went inside and raced to our lockers.

Jordan's locker is right next to mine. That's cool because he's one of my closest friends. Another cool thing is that all the girls are jealous. Jordan is a wide receiver on the varsity football team and apparently being an athlete automatically makes you attractive. But, getting jealous stares makes me feel cool, so I can live with it. I'm also on the team. I'm a running back.

I was walking to lunch a couple hours later with Zane and Garret when I bumped into someone. I looked up a couple inches and saw...Holy crap... Braydon Donahue. I've had a small crush on him since fifth grade. "Uh, sorry." He said. I snapped out of the daze and replied, "It's fine. I wasn't looking where I was going."
"Hey, aren't you that girl on the football team?"
Braydon doesn't play football. He's more into baseball.
"Yeah."
"You're pretty good on the field,"
"Thanks."
He chuckled and walked away. I stared at him and smiled. When he was gone, Zane and Garret burst out laughing. I told them to shut up and we went to the bench for lunch.
