Chapter 10

Don't Wanna Be Reminded, Don't Wanna Be Seen - (Louis)

Monday 8th July 2009 - Acorn Adventure Centre

(Part 1)

Blooming hell its was boiling!! We left school around 11am and its been flipping baking. Like, Welsh weathers alright but I've never seen it be 24 degrees by 9am! It was said to be the hottest week in Welsh history. It was currently 31 degrees and we were all cooking as we waiting for our cabins to be sorted, that's when I saw him.

As we'd pulled up, another school did at the same time. A mixed school, from Yorkshire apparently. After finally finding my sunglasses that were stupidly buried at the bottom of my bag, I looked up to see everyone with there suitcases. The instructor was frantically waving, trying to grab everyone's attention, yelling

"Would the owner of this shockingly pink suitcase please claim their luggage?"

I started to make my way through the crowd, trying to be as quick as possible. A boy in a striped top, from the other school casually steps toward the instructor.

"Cheers mate, I thought I'd lost that for a second ther! Been rippin' my hair out!"

I was suddenly surrounded by fits of laughter. What? It wasn't that funny! I finally reached the front, grabbing the handle of my suitcase. The strippy boy slowly raised his head to met mine, still pissing himself. I have this thing, where, whenever I met someone new, apart from being awkward and self conscious, the first thing I notice, is their eyes. His eyes were watering slightly, due to his laughter, but as they met mine, his laughter slowly died and my view of his eyes became clearer. I couldn't distinguish whether his eyes were either pond blue or mint green. They reminded me of the lake in the centre. A curious mixture of blue and green. I gave him a small smile and I began to drag my luggage to my cabin.

The cabins were so cool. They looked like mini caravan from the outside. Although there were some spiders here and there, I got used to it. Our cabin consisted of Me, Mary Claire, Grace, Pollie, Yassie and the crazy Cez. We did have 3 other people but I think they got scared and moved because we all have a reputation of party freaks and they were quite sensible. How stupid can Mrs Boyle get?! Putting all us 7, in the same cabin?! We can up with a cabin name too.

"Abradapinkbra"

X"D don't ask me. We all just happened to be wearing pink bras at the time.

The other school that had arrived were staying in the top camp, which was quite a walk through the fields. You see, the valleys (Wales) mostly consists of sheep, grass and poo. But apparently, because the lake was in the bottom camp, they usually came down for the activities.

Acorn Adventure Centre. Where do I begin?! The cabins looked like caravans only without the car bit and the the toilets were separate but oh well. In the cabins, there were 5 small rooms. Two which contained one bunk and two other which had two bunks. And the other room was an open 'lounge' as we call it bit it was really just a bench along the wall. The was a medium sized field by the lake. Omg the lake. Unfortunately there wasn't a sandy shore, it was more like a duck pooy muddy shore but it all just looked so beautiful. The hills of the valleys and the odd animal running about. I instantly fell in love with the place.

"Beautiful huh?"

The voice kinda shocked me. I thought everyone was in their cabins unpacking. I turned to meet the gorgeous pond eyes I love. Joey stood with his hands in his front pockets gazing at the sky.

"Amazing."

I whispered, as my throat had been feeling dry. We just stood there, in comfortable silence, taking in the scenery. Up until the silence was broken by a particular yorkshire accent.
