“I told you guys we should have come late. Now we have to suffer the first day blah blah blah speeches,” Eric said with irritability evident in his eyes.

“Relax, Ric. You wouldn’t die just by listening to these speeches. You should have gotten used to it already. We’ve been in this school since we were four.”

“It’s your fault that I’m stuck here, Henry. You’re just too excited to study,” Eric retorted.

“Sheesh, you whine like a grade-schooler.” Henry said and then looked at the silent man beside him. “Hey Robert, tell our dear friend here that this assembly is compulsory.”

“Henry, I’m the student council president. I don’t obey orders. I’m the one giving them out.”

“Aaaand arrogant Robert Clendale makes an appearance!”

“Lower your voice, Henry.”

Eric just looked at Henry with the triumphant smirk. But Robert’s next words immediately cause his expression to differ.

“Eric, if you would not attend the assembly, or any school-related activities, you will be given seventy-two hours of community service.”

“What?! You serious?!” Both Henry and Eric exclaimed.

Exasperated, Robert just covered his face with his palm and said, “You guys were with me when the student handbook was revised two weeks ago. Don’t tell me you already forgot.”

“We weren’t actually listening, Rob. We were just waiting for you to finish since we were going to go to a party,” Henry admitted.

“Now you know. So keep your mouths shut.”

Eric raised both of his hands. “Okay, shutting up now.”

“Good. This assembly will be over soon.”

”---I hope this will be the start of numerous friendships, wonderful memories... perhaps even love."

With that statement, different responses came from the audience. Some of the girls had their eyes on some of the boys, and vice versa. But at the right side of the gymnasium where the boys are seated, Robert, Henry, and Eric tried hard not to gag.

“Love? With those Mayzen girls? I’ve had enough of them. I thought we could finally get some peace and quiet once their school is renovated. But then our school just HAD to merge with theirs. Then, boom! No more peaceful boys’ school. But at least some are worth looking at,” Eric proclaimed.

“Look at the bright side, dude. You get to see your fiancé for another two years,” Henry announced.

“I told you not to say that in public! Those words are forbidden!”
