“Nothing in the world is more flexible and yielding than water. Yet when it attacks the firm and the strong, none can withstand it, because they have no way to change it. So the flexible overcome the adamant, the yielding overcome the forceful. Everyone knows this, but no one can do it.” -Lao Tzu

Prince Braeden’s POV
“Destroying half of the palace yard won’t help Brae,” Dizzy explains to me again as I let everything near me burn. I intensify the flames and continue to realive the stress. Dad has some nerve by telling me that I have to leave my home. And for what? For peace?
“You didn’t hear him Dizzy. He treated me like one of his subjects, not his succesor,” I spit before remebering how dad said it.
I was walking down the hall, sandwhich in one hand and a glass of wine in the other, when I heard dad call out to me. Of course I figured it would have something to do with what happened last night but not to this degree. There were no signs and there was nothing that could have prepared me for this.
I walked his way still ignorant and Dad said, “Son your things are being packed and you have to visit the Water Elementals for five days. You’re going with your sister so don’t worry too much about them trying to kill you.”
I clench my fists at the thought and shoot more flames from my hand. This is just unbelievable! If anything, those Water Elementals should be worried about me! I hate how dad made it seem like visiting the enemey is no big deal. Does he think I will really just follow any command of his like a puppy?
“Well Brae you’re the sucessor and Dad can’t take that away from you. If he did, I can easily talk him out of it. Now can we please get on a horse and travel to the border?” Dizzy asks. I run my very warm fingers through my messy hair and nod in agreement. Dizzy’s right. The sooner we get to their kingdom, the sooner I can leave.
I walk past Dizzy and away from the flames and with a snap of Dizzy’s finger’s she manages to douce some of my flames. I hate how strong she can be at times. I know she can take care of herself and me if she wants but I don’t like it when she interfers with my stress relievers. In some twisted way I guess this is her way of getting back at me because of her drink at dinner.
Dizzy throws her arm around me before saying loudly, “We are going to have an amazing time brother!” Why is she so peppy?
“How so sister?” I question. For some reason Dizzy’s smiling as we walk on the crispy grass. It’s her wide smile that means she’s hatched a plan. Her plans are usually interesting so I’ll listen.
“We can toy with their minds from the inside of course. I mean, they fear us. Why don’t we plant a bit more of that fear. I’ll be the never ending flirt and you can be....Well what do you do?” Dizzy questions and I glare at her before she giggles. “Kidding,” she adds but she’s not the only one with a smile on her face.
As a plan of my own starts to grow in my mind I reply, “Dizzy I think this trip will become very interesting.”
I don’t explain my plan to Dizzy anymore, but we soon meet our loaded horses. There are a few other guards on hourses with our things. Dizzy runs forward to her favorite horse that’s white with a flaming red mane and pets the horse before mounting. Dizzy has a better relationship with horses than I do. I prefer to walk and feel the hot dust and solid dirt on my feet.
