"You've never felt pain until you've felt love." -Unknown
Melrose's POV
I better look good this time or I'm going to scream. I've tried on three different outfits before this one and I'm getting very frustrated. I look at myself in the mirror and curl the last strand of my hair. It's still pulled to one side and shiny, but I wanted to tighten the curls. I reapplied all my makeup and I sprayed myself with a sugar cookie perfume before trying on my second outfit. I have a thick black bracelet on my left wrist with other smaller bangles and black feathered earrings in my ear now. My other outfits were to skimpy for Braeden and he claims that one of my outfits was underwear. It all looks the same to me.
Braeden says I had a bad a fever when I woke up from my nap and I wouldn't swallow any of the water he brought in the room. That was his excuse to dump water all over my naked body. I didn't appreciate it at all. Then Braeden threw me a towel before he forced me out of his room. It's not like I knew my naked body would make him so flustered. I was just burning up in my sleep. Maybe if his palace installed a thing like air conditioning, he would have more satisfied guests.
Right now I have on a very low waisted black and red pleated mini skirt. I can even see the edges of my black lacy underwear. I have on a red halter top that shows off most of my stomach and simple three inched black heels. Will this still be too revealing?
I walk out of the room with a little cash stuffed into my bra and do a quick spin for Braeden. He looks me over with a harsh gaze before shaking his head in disapproval.
"Fix the skirt," he says and I stomp my foot.
"Why don't you put on a skirt? I have a lot of bags you know and we're wasting moonlight. Can we please just go?" I beg. Princess Desiree and Col left an hour ago and she had on a dress that made her look like she was about to burst from the seems. I want to have fun too.
Braeden sighs before extending his arm and I accept the gesture. "All I'm saying is that you look too beautiful for a few drinks and dances," he says but I roll my eyes. I'm sure Braeden has a lot more planned than just that.
When we walk onto the streets, I begin to understand why it's Braeden's favorite time of day. There are tons of people outside and they are being so friendly with each other. There are a few whistles from the guys and giggles from the girls. The flames lit inside the torches above our heads are burning brightly. There are musicians playing on every corner and people dancing in the streets. My eyes are taking in as much as possible while hanging onto Braeden's arm. People never seem this amused in my kingdom.
"Ever seen a parade?" Braeden says in my ear to be heard above the noise. I nod my head at his random question and roll my eyes.. My kingdom has many parades throughout the year. They mostly contain people walking around in simple colors with dancing in the streets and a few musicians. The smaller kids always want to stand closest to the marching people. It's a nice sight once or twice during the year.
Breaden walks me across the street and the sight before me makes my eyes widen in shock. This is not like the parade's back at home. There are hundreds of people alining the streets with necklaces of brightly colored beads around their necks. Most people have drinks in their hands and lighted pieces of paper between their fingers.
"Right here!" someone next to me exclaims and the people around me seem to be screaming the same thing.
I stand on my toes for a better view and gasp as I see a huge decorated carriage of people coming our way. At the front of the carriage there is a head of King Braeden IV and the people inside the carriage are throwing things like silver coins, beaded necklaces, and stuffed animals. I've never seen anything like this before.
