if scars are our way of seeing
what we have been through, are bruises the way we see what
bumps we've been through?
or how we let ourselves
get hurt.-
Luke had problems with a lot of things. His mental health, Krystal's bruises, and his family.
But what really got on his nerves was Krystal. He didn't like the fact that everyday, he would see a new bruise. It wasn't just something he saw in his mind. He knew it was there, because every time Kris would move, she would wince. It hurt to see her like that. It really did.
Luke wants to know how she gets them, but he never asks. He doesn't want to push her limit and ask her questions she isn't comfortable with.
Today at Kris's house, Luke saw that she had a large bruise on her neck. No, it wasn't a hickey. Luke was 100% sure it wasn't a hickey.
But what if they were. What if she has a boyfriend that makes love to her everyday. Luke sure hoped that wasn't the case.
He wants to love Kris himself.
Luke always felt weird around her, though. The way she looked is what brought that feeling forward. Sometimes he thinks he should leave her forever. Kris looks so fragile, and hurt. Inside and out. All he wants to do is make her feel special and loved. He wants her to know that as long as she's with him, none of that shit will ever happen. It makes his heart literally ache.
Sometimes Luke wonders what would have happened with his life if he didn't bump into her that day. Would his heart always have these bipolar feelings about her? Would his wrists still be clean? Would he be as happy as he is now?
Would he be okay?
The answer is no. His heart wouldn't have those feelings. He wouldn't even have a heart. A slash on his wrists each night. A sad teenage boy, who isn't okay at all.
But Krystal on the other hand would be the same with her prosopagnosia. Michael wouldn't even look like Michael. Luke wouldn't be involved in her life. Dad would be confused with mom. All of the above.

Kris was sitting on her bathroom counter, with Luke standing in front of her. She wasn't doing anything. Just sitting there, looking out into the nonexistent distance of the bathroom wall.
He's built up all of this courage for this moment.
"Where did you get all these damn bruises?"
She just sat there, same position from
the start, not saying anything.Did she even here what he said?
Luke decided to forget he even asked. He grabbed what looked like a foundation of some sort and squeezed some on his hand. He tilted Krystal's head up, and looked into her eyes, asking for her permission. She just, blinked.
She was really tickling Luke's nerves, being all quiet and shit. He didn't blame her though, because we're all guilty of having those days.
Those days where you feel so empty and useless and tired. Where you never want to talk to a human being again, and you just want to sit in your room while listening to depressing music. He slightly moved her head to the side so more skin on her neck would be exposed. Luke lathered the foundation on her skin, covering her marks. It wasn't the same colour as her complexion, but it would do for now. Anything to cover up her bruises.
She looked into Luke's eyes and asked him a question that caught him off guard.
"Why do you care so much, Luke? Why do you care about me?"
