Chapter three.

Family Loss and New Friends.

My mother stood in my doorway looking much like a fish out of water with the way she was opening and closing her mouth repeatedly. Monster was in as much shock as I, for he was sitting as close to me as he could. I could tell he was worried so I stroked his head with the arm I could move. My left arm felt like it was still aflame. "Mom, I'm so sorry. I don't know what happened! All I did was pick it up... I'm sorry!" I grew hysterical thinking she would be mad. I was wrong. She was scared. Scared of me, as if I was no longer her daughter. I began to sob, as she fled from my room. I could hear her packing her things from my room. I looked to the only creature I could trust. Monster. He had stayed by my side the whole time, making sure I was fine. The final thing I heard was the slamming if my front door. The sadness quickly turned to pure rage. Something told me to do something wretched, but I whole-heartedly refused. Monster whined slightly as if trying to wake me from /my/ reality. Hopelessness, rage and complete and utter desperation filled my head with lies. I needed to get out of this place, far away even, but where would I go? "Nirrana." A deep soothing voice called out to me. I looked around the empty room and only saw my dog. I wondered if I was losing it when I heard it again. "Nirrana." Monster was staring at me so intently I almost thought it was him. But that was insane right? I tried to reason with myself. Monster walked over to me and stood up so he was eye level with me and I heard it yet again. "Nirrana." He looked me in the eye and faintly I could hear, "My princess Nirrana." My dog was speaking in my mind... I thought I was dreaming again but I was not. This was real. This was the real world Monster tilted his fuzzy head to the side before he suddenly had human skin and a handsomely carved face. "Princess? Hello?" He said lightly, smiling shyly. "I think I should go lay down for a bit..." I said drunkenly before falling to the ground. Monster gasped.   "Princess? No! No!" He grabbed me and sat me on my bed or so I thought. Nearly an hour later I awoke with a massive headache. The human form of monster sat on the edge of my bed. His beautiful hues stare strait into my own.

"Who are you, and what have you done with my lovable oaf of a dog?" I groaned out before rubbing my pained and throbbing head.

"Ah, I forgot dear princess. Please forgive me, my name is Montague but you have come to know me as Monster." He scratched his forehead, "Oi, human again." He shook his head then snickered lightly. "Nirrana?" He asked once more.   "Montague? Human? Again??" I coughed. Was I beyond sanity?? Or was this real life? I felt as though I fabricated it all within my own mind and that it was all crashing down onto my feet. Montague bowed his head to me as if he was real and I was truly a princess. "You're nothing but a lie!” I hissed out, "I'm going to wake up any moment to my loving mother who's tending to my feverish head." I hoarsely spoke.

He buried his face into my chest and spoke calmly, "Princess, please don't allow it to get to you."

"Allow what? I was extremely dumbfounded.

"Allow the voices to take control of you." Monster/Montague explained. As I wondered what he was talking about he started to tell a story, my story... "The day you were born our beautiful queen Solis killed herself to save our kingdom and our land. She was cursed at 17, for she had run away. Her father killed her mother, in front of her, then went after her. But Solis ran to the city and hid with the beggars and stray animals in Beggars Row. She knew he wouldn't find her here, but someone else did."
