We rushed out the back of Camila's, Lauren over my shoulder, the echoing of many police sirens blaring in the distance. My heart racing more than a hundred beats per minute.
"Harry, what are we going to do?! We done have a car!" Camila asked, pacing back and forth, nervously running her fingers through her hair,"I have no idea, Camila, maybe if I can get into my apartment I can get my car," I said,"But that's a big maybe at this point."
I put Lauren down, checking her pulse,"It's weak,"I said, looking up at Camila,"What her pulse?" She asked, still pacing back and forth.
I stood up, grabbing her hands, looking at them, Lauren's blood all over her innocent hands.
"We can do this, Camila, I promise," I said,"But what if we can do this? I mean, what's going to happen if you get arrested again? What am I supposed to do then?" She asked,"It won't, I got out of there and I will stay out, I promise," I said, leaning in to kiss her lips, a small smile across her lips.
"We need to get Lauren to the cabin, that's the only place that we're safe," Camila said, looking down at Lauren, who passed out from her loss of blood.
I looked up over the hill, a police car driving by.
"I have no idea how we're going to get out of here," I said, looking over the hill,"It's impossible with how elaborate they're being."
Camila looked at me, walked over and kissed me,"I'm going back," She said, before I grabbed her hand.
"Camila, you can't just go back, they're looking for you too, you killed three people," I said, her eyes saddening.
"I don't need to be reminded of that, Harry," She said, walking away.
"Cams," I said, looking at her walk away, I looked back at Lauren, who passed out from loss of blood,"Fuck."
I kneeled down, lightly shaking Lauren to wake her up. Her eyes slowly opened, looking right at me.
"Harry?" She said, I nodded my head in response,"I-Is Camila g-good now?"
I nodded,"Harry, I-I don't know h-how much longer I c-can go," She said, shaking her head.
"No, Lauren, you have to hold on for as long as you can," I said, "I promise we're going to get you out of here."
I looked around, seeing Camila almost at the bottom of the hill.
"Camila!" I yelled, making her turn around,"You can't leave, she's dying!"
Camila ran back up the hill, looking down at Lauren, seeing her weak. "I-I don't know what to do," She said, shaking her head.
"We have to think of something, Camila, or she won't survive this," I said, taking a deep breathe.
"We need to get her to the house, but how can we do that?" Camila said, biting her bottom lip, pacing back and forth,"I could go and get the car from your house and drive it here."
"You don't have your license," I said, Camila giving me a look.
"Does it really matter at this point? We're on the run," She said,"Your house is just up here."
"Hurry, don't stop for anyone," I said, handing her the keys,"Be careful."
She hugged me, running up the hill.
"Lauren, I'm going to have to pick you up again, let me know if anything hurts," I said, picking her up, she flinched when I touched her side.
I lifted up the side of her shirt, seeing a glass shard embedded in her skin,"Fuck," I cussed, seeing Camila pull up.
I ran up the hill, putting Lauren in the backseat, hiding in the back with her, looking at the glass shard repeatedly.
"Cams, I said, Camila looking up at the rear view mirror,"There's a shard stuck real good in her side."
"Harry," Camila said,"You studied to be a doctor in college, correct?"
I nodded,"Then use your skills," She said,"It's up to you to save her life."
Well thanks, more pressure to put on me in the first place.
We drove up to house, I found a tarp, putting it over the car, rolling it inside.
I brought Lauren inside, putting her on the bed, finding surgery tools, finding the large glass shard, slowly pulling it out, starting the procedure.
