CALLISTA'S POV:
It's been a whole week since I met Eric and I still can't believe he actually chose me to be friends with! I mean, what a revelation!
I had some guy friends, but I was only friend zone for all of them. I didn't know what it was about Eric though, there was some sort of feeling I got all the time that said that he really liked me. But, I always ignored them, because I knew better not to get my hopes up too high or they might just come crashing down, and harder than I expected.
I had shown Eric around the school - well, Niya was there, too, but for once she was paying more attention to her phone than a cute guy and Eric was paying too much attention towards me to even know Niya was there - and I had so much fun playing tour guide with him.
He was amazing. Or maybe all guys were and I just never had the opportunity to know that.
Since we didn't have any classes together and the only time we met was during lunch, the whole period we'd be watching each other out of the corner of our eyes and smiling shyly. I was wary of Niya though, if she found out what I was up to, she'd never let it go.
I didn't really think of Eric anything more than just a friend, but Niya wouldn't understand that. She'd think I was having another major crush on and she'd go to the ends of the earth trying to match us up together. That didn't work out the first time and it was sure as hell wasn't going to work out the second time, I knew that without a doubt. So, it was best for her to just stay out of it.
But, I ended up being wrong, because maybe if I had listened to Niya, I wouldn't have gotten where I was now.

It was a regular day at lunch and I was watching - but trying not to - Eric, when I noticed Dylan watching me as well. The smile on my face washed away and a frown settled there instead. I quickly averted my gaze.
Dylan didn't like me. I knew that for a fact and now that I was friends with his new friend, he seemed to have disliked me even more. It was better if I didn't get in his way or make him hate me more by starting anything with Eric.
When I looked back up, I noticed Eric was standing right in front of me. I still wasn't used to him popping up everywhere and couldn't help flinching back.
"Hey." he smiled with his eyes.
"Hi." I replied feebly.
"Can I sit with you?" I noticed a lunch tray in his hands piled with food that made my mouth water just looking at it. I bit down on my tongue to keep it from licking my lips in front of Eric.
"But, aren't you sitting with your friends?" I wondered aloud.
"Yeah, but I'd rather sit with you today." Eric answered, flashing me a sweet smile.
"Um, OK." I slid over to give Eric room to sit next to me in Niya's usual spot.
"So, how come I never see you eat lunch?" Eric asked, biting into a thin hamburger stuffed with French fries and ketchup.
I gulped and willed my stomach to keep calm as I answered, "I don't really like the school lunch, is all. It grosses me and Niya out."
It was a rehearsed line and given to anyone who cared, which wasn't enough, so I wasn't too sure if it was a believable lie or not. But, I knew that by including Niya's name into the equation, it would seem more truthful. It would prove that I wasn't the only one who hated the school lunch; there were others.
"Oh." there was a hint of disdain in his voice.
"But, I do eat like the fruits and stuff." I quickly added.
