'What else do you have on the list?' David asked pushing the green Waitrose trolley in a pair of grey Tarnock slim fit Jack Wills sweatpants and purple Monreith print Ss Jack Wills tee.

'Grapes,' I replied. 'Lots of yogurt and some porridge. Oh look, cat food.'

He pushed our trolley towards the cat food.

'Let's see,' I said bending down to look at the different types of food. 'Which ones does Wiley eat?'

'How are things going with Howard?' David asked.

'Good,' I replied. 'Did I tell you that I met his sister-in-law?'

'No.'

'Well I did,' I replied. 'She was quite nice I guess. I went to this auction she had and I gave her your number.'

'What was her name?'

'Karen,' I replied. 'Did she call you?'

'She did,' David replied. 'She wanted the Marchesa you wore.'

I nodded as I picked up a bag of food then loaded it into the trolley before picking up a few small bags of treats.

'She seemed nice.'

'That's good,' I nodded. 'She invited me to this other charity thing tomorrow night. You don't happen to have anything going spare do you?'

'I have to two dresses I know you'll love,' he replied. 'One's a black Victoria Beckham corseted crepe gown and the other is a peach tiered Marchesa silk-organza gown.'

'I like the sound of them,' I said as we walked down the cereal aisle. 'When do you think I could come by and have a look at them?'

'This evening if you like,' he replied. 'Or tomorrow afternoon.'

'Okay,' I nodded. 'Probably tomorrow afternoon.'

'What are you doing tonight?' David asked picking up a large box of Crunchy Nut cereal.

'Howard is taking me out to dinner,' I replied looking at the different labels and packaging. 'I'm not sure why, and I don't understand how he can make so much time for me when he's got a wife.'

'He must really like you.'

'Aren't I a lucky girl,' I said putting some cereal bars into the trolley. 'Would you like to go out to dinner soon? I feel like I haven't seen you in ages.'

'What are you talking about?' David laughed. 'You see me all the time.'

'You know what I mean,' I laughed. 'We could go shopping after this.'

'I've got to buy Susie a present,' David replied. 'It's her birthday next week and I don't think I'll have time to get her something then.'

'Then that's a plan,' I grinned. 'We'll go shopping after this. I need some new skirts and blouses. I'm flying out to Los Angeles next week for another meeting.'

'That's very exciting.'

'It sure is.'

An hour later, David and I found ourselves in Selfridges looking at clothes and shoes.

'What are you thinking of getting Susie?' I asked. 'Some fancy jewellery? A pair of shoes?'

'I don't know yet,' David replied. 'I'm still thinking. What are you looking for?'

'Everything and anything,' I replied. 'We should look for something for Susie first.'

'You know, I was talking to her about you,' David said. 'She said that she'd love to hang out with you sometime.'
