Iris pushed Immortal to the ground as a blade swiped in their direction. The edge caught Iris' arm, making her fall to the ground next to Immortal. They both looked up to see Sly standing with the sun rising behind him. He raised the sword, but as it came crashing down both found a way to dodge it. A frustrated growl escaped Sly's mouth.
Immortal struggled to his feet and looked back to see the blood on Iris' arm. Then he looked to his best friend, or what he thought was his best friend.
"Sly what the fuck is wrong with you?!" He yelled.
"He's possessed!" Iris shouted back as she tried to get to cover.
Sly tried another swing at Immortal. He jumped back, unable to return any attacks.
"A little help here?" Immortal asked, still trying to run from the blade.
Iris stood and as she did so, she shot Sly in the back with a bolt of power. He fell to his knees, but he wasn't down -not yet. Immortal grabbed the sword and took several steps back. Their friend started to get back up and they both started to panic.
"Whatever you did," Immortal said. "Do it again."
Iris looked at him as if he was crazy. "But, that would kill a normal person."
"Sly isn't a normal person! Just do it!" He shouted.
Against her judgement, Iris closed her eyes and made the shot. Sly fell to the ground with his eyes shut. Still concerned, Iris rushed over and checked his pulse.
"He's still... alive. That shouldn't be possible." She gasped.
"It is for him." He sighed. "Go get the others and we'll get him locked up."
She nodded and rushed back down the path, blood still on her arm. They did as Immortal said and locked him up tight. The others had gone their separate ways, but Seamus and Iris stood looking in through the bars.
"Can you fix him?" Seamus asked.
"I don't know." She replied. "I would have to know what spell was used in the first place."
He sighed. "And how do I get you that information?"
"Unlock this door."
He looked at her in disbelief. "What? Are you bat shit crazy?"
Iris locked her eyes to his. "You want him fixed or not?"
Seamus didn't reply. He just sighed and unlocked the door for her. Carefully, as if approaching a tiger, she walked in the cell. Sly was still unconscious, as he had been for many hours.
Iris leaned down to look at the back of his neck for a mark, or something along those lines. The second she touched him, his eyes shot open. Sly threw her across the cell and she crashed into the brick wall. Seamus started to open the door to stop Sly.
"No! Stay there." Iris said.
He was worried, but chose not to question her. Iris pulled herself up and leaned on the wall for support. Sly walked over towards her to finish her, but he was blindsided by her grabbing the front of his shirt and pulling him into a kiss. Even Seamus was shocked and speechless. Then the magic started to flow, and he understood.
The color returned to Sly's face as they pulled away. His beautiful brown eyes shined in the daylight pouring in through the small window.
"Where the fuck am I?" He asked looking at Iris.
"Safe, and that's what matters." Seamus replied as he entered the cell.
Sly let out a sigh of relief. As tight as he could, he hugged Seamus. He closed his eyes, wanting to cry. Then he looked back to Iris, who was holding her ribcage and leaned against the wall.
