Sly and Seamus walked in the door of Sly's house that found itself in a forest in the middle of nowhere. The trees outside were thick and the grass lush. Of course, the forest was crawling with fox's which is why Sly named it Fox Hollow.
When they walked in PuppyChef came running to greet his owner. The little dog jumped and skidded around making Seamus laugh and Sly ending up on the floor in an effort to entertain the k9.
"Okay, okay!" Sly said catching his breathe. "Let me up Puppychef!" He begged.
Finally the dog backed up. She started to run up to the window seal and bark while a fox passed in front of the glass.
"SHUT UP!" Sly yelled, but the barking didn't stop.
He walked up and as he got close Puppychef went quiet. The pup looked at him with wide eyes as if she did nothing.
"Seriously?" He tried holding a stare but broke out laughing. "Go take a nap chef."
The dog trotted off as Sly directed his attention back to his guest. He walked back to the entrance and grabbed Seamus' leather jacket, putting it in his closet.
"It's uh... it's sure been a while since you came over. Make yourself at home." He smiled.
"Thanks," He replied. "but I do have a lot of work to do. I'm not planning on staying long."
"Work?" He asked puzzled. "The Creatures ARE your work."
"I still make guns, even if I'm on the team. But I have other work than being a gunsmith and a hero. It's just side stuff though."
Sly dropped it as they went to the kitchen. He grabbed Seamus a drink, not even having to ask what he wanted.
Seamus got to the point of his visit. "So, start talkin'. What's going on with you?"
"It's Immortal." He sighed confirming Ze's guess. "He... he doesn't wanna be a hero anymore."
Seamus -who had heard it all when it came to friends fighting- was taken back. "Why in hell would he want to do that?"
"Tiffany is a little... reckless, I guess. She never gets hurt, but it scares Immortal... a lot. He doesn't want the stress, but that's only part of my problem. I'm mad at him for that, but I'm really pissed at myself because if I was such a good guy, why don't I worry for Natalie like that?"
Seamus sighed. "Because you have a lot to worry about. In this lifetime, Tiffany is all that boy has." He went to say more but his phone began to vibrate. "One second Sly."
He pulled out his phone and gave a negative stare to the caller ID. He sighed as he answered.
"Yeah?"
Mumbling could be heard from the phone.
"I can't do that!" Seamus protested.
The words "You can and you will." were spoken from the voice on the other end.
"Fine, but if it ain't late, it'll be as last minute as possible."
Frustrated, he said his goodbyes and hung up. Shoving his phone back in his pocket, Seamus headed to the door.
"Sorry Sly," He said putting on his jacket. "I gotta get going. I want you to remember this though; all you want in life is for your friends and loved ones to be happy, and all you need in life is to be happy yourself. In the end, want gives the need. Let Immortal do what he feels comfortable doing. Yeah, it will be the loss of a great hero, but there's plenty more on the rise everyday."
"Thank you Seamus." Sly replied hugging him.
"You're welcome. Bye Sly."
"Bye Seamus."
Seamus ran out the door and started his Harley. The tires sent leaves flying in the air as he took off in a hurry. Sly watched him fade in the distance and then pulled out his phone. He sat down on porch steps as he listened to the rings.
Immortal's voice answered, annoyance in his tone. "What?"
"Dude, chill." He said, then took a deep breathe. "I just wanna tell you I'm sorry. I realize I just want you to be happy and that means I'll have to deal with your decisions, even if I don't agree with them. I'd do the same if it were my girl."
Immortal sighed, being defeated. Yes, defeated. Sly was being the better man and it made him feel like shit. The regret started flooding in, just as it does every time they make up.
"I'm sorry too." He replied. "I said some stuff I shouldn't have, but thank you for understanding."
"So what're you gonna do now? Go back to your old job?" He asked.
He replied with sarcasm. "Yeah, Sly, cause I really enjoyed being town fool."
"You know I mean making guitars, shit for brains!" Sly laughed.
"Oh, I guess. Tiffany already decided to get into reviewing music. She loves it anyways and she's very opinionated, so it's a good fit."
"It's a perfect fit!" He agreed.
Tiffany's voice hummed Immortal's name in the background. Sly could hear her as she came closer.
"Who ya talking to baby?" She asked.
"Sly." He replied.
She continued with questions. "When you gonna be done?"
Sly could practically see her twirling her hair and swaying her hips to get her way. He giggled and Immortal came back to the conversation.
"Can we talk later? I kinda gotta go..."
"Sure bubba." Sly smiled. "Bai!" He yelled into the phone.
"Bye Sly." Immortal laughed.
He hung up and set the phone down on his desk. Tiffany came and turned his chair around, and then jumped up in his lap, wrapping her hands around his neck.
"So..." She said, inches from his face.
"So." Immortal replied jokingly.
"So what's going on? You two good?"
"Yeah, we're good."
She smiled devilishly. "Good."
She leaned down and kissed him. Immediately he kissed back and put his arms around her waist. Now everything was calm and good. Everyone was trouble-free, even if two heroes were stepping down. It's all okay because all the villains are locked up. Even if they get out, all villains are stupid anyways, right?
Meanwhile, a male voice spoke in the darkness as a computer screen silhouetted his face. "Kootra," He began to name the team. "A teleporting marksman, and the leader. Danz; the tech-head, their behind the scenes man. He understands technology so much he can literally talk to it. Ze; the ability to manipulate energy. Sly; an acrobatic warrior that can speak to animals. Spoon; the shapeshifter, and side kick to their power house. And Nova; insane strength runs through his veins and it's laced with rage." His eyes lit up. "If you barely irritate him, he could level an entire town. He's the most powerful one by far, and he's our objective."
"Sir, what about Seamus?" A female voice asked from behind him. "He is the best sharp shooter, or any kind of shooter, in the world."
The man chuckled. "He doesn't even have any powers. I'm not worried about that little twerp."
The woman held her breathe, unsure his thoughts about Seamus where right. She still said nothing. It's not her place to speak, but she still worried that he was underestimating the power of the powerless hero.
