She had never seen a human but she had learned of their existence from the bedtime stories her father used to tell her. She had once seen the bones of a big whale buried beneath the sand of the ocean floor. She had uncovered the bones using her tale as a broom and then spent an entire day admiring the shape of the whale's skeleton. Since then, the mermaid became known among the sea-folks as an expert archeologist. She would spend days exploring the ocean floors in search for the buried bones of sea creatures that had been extinct for thousands of years. This time however, she finally found the specimen she had been searching for a very long time. 'These must be the remains of a human. How I would love to meet a living one,' she thought.

Although her ability to emit light gave her the power to lure and attract any fish she desired, she did not want to find love in the ocean. She dreamt of a fairytale like romance between man and fish and cried herself to sleep every night because she knew that humans cannot survive under water. She knew that a skeleton was the closest she would ever get to a human and so she decided to bring it to life.
