What creeps at midnight isn't so angelic.

The Kitchen

My body was itching for something that involved... Food. I haven't ate since breakfast because Malina called me and we talked all through lunch time.

I checked the clock on the nightstand and saw that it said "11:56", making me groan at the top of my lungs. I quickly stood up and slipped on my yoga shorts, walking out of my room and quickly pouncing down the stairs.

I check to see if there was anyone in the hallway before sprinting into the breakfast room.

When I laid my eyes on that fridge, I nearly dropped to my knees. Just think of the magical, delicious possessions it's able to claim and hold...

With shaky hands, I walked over to the fridge and quickly slung open the door, making me gasp. Oh the possessions.

"Amazing..." I said, smiling when my hand landed on a small bag of powdered doughnuts. But then it transferred to the gorgeous turkey, sealed in parchment paper.

I took a deep breath and collected myself.

I slowly slid open the freezer and my eyes dropped. Holy Mother of Food.

Rocky Road ice cream.

This can't be happening. My God I am in a dream.

I grabbed a bowl out of a cabinet and hunted for a spoon. Once I found one, I scooped some ice cream into the bowl, put it back in the freezer and sat down at a small table.

Now it's time for the majestic ice cream to-

"What are you doing up so late?" Shit! I looked to doorway to see Harry in sweatpants and a white t-shirt.

"Um, I..." I set the bowl down on the table and he rubbed his eyes.

"Sorry. I hope I didn't wake you." I mumbled and he yawned.

When he approached me, he collapsed into the chair closest to me and I sat up straight. I never knew that someone so tired could look so... Perfect and gorgeous.

His hair was disheveled everywhere, and his eyes were drowsy and comforting. He seemed so real and just everything of his opposite.

"Is that ice cream?" He seemed to perk up a bit and I nodded my head.

He rubbed his eyes again before getting up and taking the whole carton of ice cream and a spoon instead of putting some in a bowl.

He popped off the lid and quickly put a spoonful in his mouth.

"Damn that's some good ice cream. Glad you thought of it."

I took a bite of my ice cream and he threw his head back while he yawned, making me smile.

"Hey can I ask you a question?" I asked and he looked at me.

"Sure." He lazily nodded his head and I smiled again.

"What do you think about politics?" I asked, covering my mouth. I knew he was way too tired and too vulnerable to give me a real answer.

"Chocolate chips are amazing. I'm surprised they didn't put it in this, amazing ice cream." He stuffed his mouth again.

I shook my head and stood up.

"Hey where are going?!" He yelled, drawing his brows together.

"I was going to go to bed." I put my bowl in the sink and rinsed it before walking back over to him.

"I'm supposed to be in bed anyways. Those are the rules." It's been over a month since I've been here and almost every week he has been telling me new rules. And he's added one to where I have to call him either what Haley calls him, Headmaster Styles, or Mr. Styles.

He stood up and set the ice cream on the counter.

"What are you doing breaking the rules anyway? Huh? You're supposed to obey," he grabbed my arm and I gasped in pain, looking at him with shock.

"But since you're already down here, sit."

I quickly sat back down in the chair and he collapsed into his. I brought my legs up in front of me and he threw his spoon on the table.

"You know what Anastasia?!" He yelled, making me jump.

"I don't know why I even brought you in. You have been nothing rude to me, and all I've been trying to do is work. I should've left you alone. I never should have told you that your parents died. I should have left you feeling all alone and wondering where the hell your parents went so you could be alone like I was." He slowed down, making tears fall from my eyes. Voice hoarse, he said, "The moment I met you I felt like you needed the same pain as I did. You were such a pain to me and I felt like you needed to feel real pain."

I shook my head, unable to do this. I should be in bed!

I stood up and tried to take off to the door, but I felt a sharp pain on my wrist and realized that he had grabbed a hold of it. Then all of a sudden, my back met contact with a wall and I let out a sharp breath.

"Don't walk away from me while I'm trying to speak girl." His voice was more hoarse than before and I was practically sobbing beneath him.

"What're you crying so hard for?"

I wanted to react. I wanted to put my hands on his chest and push him away, but all of my strength had left me when he threw me against the wall.

His hand landed on my chin and I jerked away from him.

"Am I the reason for your tears Miss Greene?" The satisfaction that was blazing all over his body made yelp.

"Please let me go." I managed to say and he took a step closer to me, making me back up further against the wall to avoid any body contact.

"Maybe I can let you go when you learn to start following the rules." His breath burned my ear and I started to cry again.

"I will." I muttered, unsure of myself.

"Will you follow the rules Miss Greene?" Power in his voice, and anger in his veins. I went to say something but he didn't let me finish.

"Will you?" His voice got higher and I cringed underneath him. Then he grabbed a hold of my shoulder and shoved me back into the wall, so hard that he had to hold me up so I wouldn't fall.

"Answer me!" He hollered and I nodded.

"Yes. Yes I will." I whimpered, and he let go of my shoulder.

"Then go to bed." He ran his hands through his hair and I ran out of the kitchen and towards the stairs, still sobbing my eyes out.

When I made it to my floor, I suddenly ran into someone. And when I looked up it was Haley, and I couldn't stop myself from wrapping my arms around her.

"Oh my goodness. Here, let's go to bed." I heard her whisper and we walked into my room.

"Darling take a breath." She sat on my bed with me and I tried to, but it just wasn't worth it.

"I'm sorry." Was all I said before I started to cry again.

I was so terrified, so mortified, that I didn't even want to leave my room. I didn't want to have to face him when he is awake and ignoring me.

"Get some sleep. You'll need it." Haley pulled my blanket over my shaking body and I closed my eyes tight when she shut the door.

I have to live with him, until I'm 20. This is not going to work. What if he pulls something like that on me again?

So many questions ran through my mind. I brought my body into a ball and cried myself to sleep, still shaking.

All I know is that I'm never going down at midnight again.
