Dark Secrets

Chapter 3

I'm walking in the forest. My long white dress and bare feet barely touch the cold dirt. I hear a branch break somewhere behind me, but I don't bother to look back. I just run faster.

 The thing behind me is faster though. It runs in front of me. I stop in my tracks it can't be. Standing three feet in front of me is Luke. He's wearing a white tee-shirt and black skinny jeans covered in what appears to be a mix of blood and dirt. 

I have so many questions, but I forget them all when I see Luke's eyes, they are bright red and are filled with a wild hunger. I felt fear rise up in my throat like bile. Before I had the chance to say a word he spoke.

"Meet me here tomorrow same time" I go to take a step forward but he's gone. I turn around and catch a glimpse of his white shirt in the moonlight.

I'm awoken by the sound of talking "Is she okay?" One girly voice asks,

"I think so, but we need more blood. Once she wakes up she won't be able to control her hunger." The other slightly deeper voice says. Right at that moment I lung forward all my thoughts are replaced with one "blood". I see a blood bag and rip it open with my new sharp fangs. The warm salty liquid ruins down my throat. I've never tasted anything better.

 I'm done within a second and on to the next bag it takes about five bags before I've satisfied my hunger. All of a sudden it hits me the dream and everything that's happened. I start to panic as I realize I'm not alone and I have no idea where I am. 

I survey my surroundings. I'm in the same forest I was in my dream and I'm in the same dress. The woods are exactly the same except it's daylight now and I can see much more clearly. Aaliyah and Alex are beside me along with a few other people I don't know. They are all wearing the same shocked expression. I feel something roll down my chin. I wipe it with the back of my hand, it comes away crimson red.

"What happened the last thing I remember I was in my room then I passed out." I said in a shaky voice.

"First we compelled your mother that you ran away. We will need to go back in a week and compel the others who knew you. We will discuss that later on with everything else. We brought you here to our clan where it's safe. And then you woke up and fed." Alex said in a soft voice.

"Wait why did you bring me here I want to go home!" I practically scream at them.

"I'm sorry but you can't do that anymore. You are one of us now and you are far safer here than you were there." Said a husky voice I look to my left and see a white-haired, pale boy who looks like he's in a band or something by the way he dresses. 

He has an earring in both ears and an eyebrow piercing and a couple tattoos. "I'm Michael by the way, second in command and Alex's boyfriend." He says as he looks over at Alex and winks. She slugs him in the arm. He winces before looking back at me with a sheepish grin.

"I didn't ask to be one of you. And it's nice to meet you I guess, I'm Lana Rose." I said in a hurry. "Wait, if we're all vampires how we are out in the sunlight?" I said, shrinking back up against the base of a tree. "As long as we wear sunscreen, we are okay." Michael says, and laughs. I gaze at him quizzically, cocking one eyebrow.

"No, not really but as long as we are not in direct sunlight we won't get hurt. And at most we get red. It's a myth that we turn to dust in the sun" Alex says, rolling her eyes as she does so .

"Oh, someone should tell Cedric she's awake." Aaliyah said. Just as I feel the dark wave of despair come over me, I hear someone approach us. A man who looks to be in his late thirties walks over. From here I can see we share the same hazel eyes. Even though mine are red right now. We also share the same nose, not too small or too big and it has a bump at the base.

"Dad?" I say, but it comes out more of a choked-up whisper. I jumped up quickly; but not having gotten used to my super strength yet I ended up jumping twenty feet in the air. From up there I saw my dad was about a hundred yards away. 

Apparently, I haven't gotten used to my new eyesight either. Gravity took over and I fell, but surprisingly I didn't panic and I landed in a crouch. I did my best to stand up slowly. I ran to my dad, again forgetting my powers. And in the blink of an eye I'm two feet away from him. I walked over quickly. He smelled like cedar wood and mint soap just like I remember. "I've missed you "...
