Thoughts
—Mike left the establishment, with a look of satisfaction on his face. Yet, the empty space in his stomach was still there. Mike didn't plan on filling that empty space in for a while.
While in his car, Mike made sure to turn up the radio as loud as possible. He needed a way to drown out his thoughts.
The music played loudly as Mike made an attempt to drown out his thoughts. The attempt hadn't worked. It only made his thinking increase. Mike was lost in thought, that was until he entered the dark parts of his thoughts. There was no getting out of these thoughts. Mike somehow still took control over the wheel, making sure to keep his mind on the road ahead yet another part of him focused on his thoughts. As Mike was deep in thought, a voice interrupted him—and it wasn't one in his head.
"what're ya thinking about, Mikey?" Faith's voice seemed more different than usual, it seemed less ghostly and more as if she'd actually been there. In human form, speaking to Mike. It seemed less shallow and echoey than usual. Mike could get used to this change.
"Stuff," Mike mumbled back. He was too busy wrangling up his thoughts in one place that he wasn't able to focus on Faith's words. Faith put a finger on her chin, pretending to be in deep thought as well as she stared at the road in front of her. Similar to Mike's position, as she mimicked Mike, Mike hadn't noticed.
"What kinda stuff?" She questioned as she traced the white lining of her black dress slowly. She seemed to entertain herself by doing this. Faith didn't say it, but she'd already known what Mike was thinking. She refused to spill her mind.
Mike did not answer. Faith whined. "Please, tell me, Mikey."
"Fine," was the simple word that stumbled out of Mike's tongue. "I was thinking about visiting a friend for today, just visiting her for a while and talk." Mike drove slower, the more he spoke. Faith took a mental note of this. Faith was fascinated by Mikes subtle choices. Faith hadn't taken a physical form in years. She wondered how it would feel to be human once again.
It was about an hour later that Mike had arrived at his final destination. It was was nearly an hour drive away from Mike's own place. Mike hadn't even known the true reason as to why he decided to visit his long-time old friend. The last time they talked was back in high school, when they used to date. They remained friends a year after. They haven't talked since. Mike wasn't even sure if she would recognize him. But, he was willing to take a chance. She was still a friend, right?
Mike closed the car door roughly behind him, leaving a loud sound that echoed through the empty streets. The girl's house in front of Mike's eyes appeared bigger than it actually was. Mike had felt no certain way towards her. But, he was certainly feeling that he wanted to say something to someone; and this was the better option.
Mike stepped up onto the pitch, climbing up the small set of stairs before giving a single knock on the front door, he could hear distant footsteps heading towards the entrance. The unlocking of the door was heard before it opened.
The girl's eyes widened with joy as a wide smile spread across her face. Mike could only force a smile.
"Hey, Mike!" Doll exclaimed with happiness.
Mike's mind was a tangle of thoughts.
