"I'm sorry"

Holy hell, I'm here to rant for a minute about apologies.

Yall ready? Here I go.

*What is an apology?

It is admiting that you feel remorse for something you've done!!!

Three steps to an apology:

*state what you have done wrong, and be spevific. A simple "sorry" doesn't fix anything, because you are not acknowledging the fact that you made a mistake. Humility is all it takes.

*Express the fact that you feel bad about the wrong thing you did, and why you did it. Now, this is different from making excuses. You are allowed to explain yourself, without letting yourself off the hook.

*Ask if there is anything you can do, and make it very clear you want to fix things.

If they don't want to forgive you?

That's their problem. You've done your part. You've apologized and made it clear you want things to be normal. If they choose to be bitter, do what makes you happy.
