Lexi's POV
---------------------------------------------Walking into work this morning with a bright smile on my face as I waved a hello to people that I passed. I love waking into work on a new day it's like a fresh start a whole a new.
"Lex, I'm so sorry for yesterday," Lucy said as I made it to our station and their she was holding out a grande cup of my usual coffee, black with three shots of caramel pumped into it, yeah it's different I'm pretty sure I'm the only person that drinks this.
"It's okay, I forgive you, it's just I'm still trying to get over it Lucy and you know this," I said calmly as I great-fully took the cup from her hand and walked behind the counter placing my bag at my desk and clocking in.
"I understand I won't say anything again Lex and you know I love you it's just I want to see you back to your normal self my happy go lucky best friend who has the brightest smile any one will ever see," she said with a hint of tears in her eyes. I placed my coffee down and gave her the biggest hug a girl could give.
"I love you to Lucy you're my best friend nothing will change that, oh and thanks so much for the coffee I was running a little late this morning," I said as I grabbed my clipboard noting who my patients were today and when I was needed to check on them.
Making my way down the corridor towards Caleb's room my mind on a whole different planet. I smiled as I entered his room to see Mr. and Mrs. Richards sitting at the foot of his bed have an animated conversation with their son.
"Nurse Lexi," Caleb shouted and smiled as he saw me, "mom and dad said that I can go home for a few days," he said with the biggest smile.
"I heard and I'm so happy for you, you can go see Buster for a few days," I smiled recalling all the stories he has told me about his German Shepard.
"Lexi," Mr. Richards started but was interrupted by his wife, "thank you for doing so much for Caleb, you are what has made this one hundred times better to cope with, we don't know how we could ever repay you, so thank you," she said and I couldn't help but tear up a little bit.
"It's been my pleasure helping little Caleb here and you don't need to think you owe me anything because seeing this little boy smiling everyday is all I need," I said with a genuine smile on my face before I was engulfed in a hug by Mrs. Richards.
I gave her a tight squeeze before letting go and going towards Caleb's bed to check his vitals, his heart rate was perfect, his breathing was good and all he needed was a change of his IVIG bottle. "Alright Spider-Man where going to just change this and your good to head home tomorrow and I'll see you on Monday," I smiled before her frowned.
"But Lexi where going to miss our movie night," he pouted and I couldn't help but smile.
"When you come back on Monday I promise I'll get a few hours off and watch it with you because I can't let my superman down can I," I smiled and that lit his whole face up.
I smiled at his parents and told them I will see them just now as they needed to sign to take him out of the hospital.
Making my way towards my other patients rooms and having other chats with a few of my little girls telling me how much they loved my hair and how I looked like Princess Aurora which made me laugh because I don't see the resemblance.
Before long I glanced at my watch as I was just coming out of my last patient for the morning period to see that it was already ten pass two and I haven't eaten for the day.
I made my way towards the front counter looking for Lucy along the way but not finding her, I placed my clip board down and grabbed my wallet to head for some lunch in the hospital cafeteria.
I ordered a garlic chicken sandwich and fries with a large Coke and was making my way back to my work station to have my lunch, I rounded the corner and I saw him holding a bouquet of purple tulips.
"Leo right," I asked as I walked around him to sit at my desk, "do you need some help?" I smiled politely.
"These are for you," he stuttered out as he held the bouquet out for me and smiled sheepishly.
"What for?" I asked curiously.
"I do not know what I did yesterday to make you run off so quick so whatever shit I did or said I'm sorry and I really wanted to see you today because I won't be at the beach this afternoon," he rambled out.
I couldn't help but smile and accept the tulips. "Thank you, they are lovely, my favorite actually," I mumbled the last part. "You didn't have to apologize I was just in a rush yesterday, I should apologize I rushed off without an explanation so I'm sorry as well," I smiled as I walked to the back of the desk and placed the tulips in the vase we had and threw the old flowers in the bin.
"I wanted to, I can't make today but I'm pretty sure I'll be by the beach tomorrow, we could talk," he smiled lightly sounding like he was expecting rejection.
"How about we go get some coffee sometime?" I asked and saw his face light up, what's it with guys and when their whole face smiles we girls just melt.
"How about I take you for dinner?" He asked a little shy and scratched the back of his neck.
"That would be nice Leo," I smiled as he nodded his head as an indication to whether I really said yes or no.
"Great," he let out a breath, "I hope you like the flowers?" He asked.
"I love them," I smiled lightly as I took a sip of my drink my food long forgotten.
"How about we go out this Saturday, is 7:30 good for you?" He asked politely while he smiled.
"Yes that's a great time," I smiled and nodded my head,"you will need my number."
"Yeah that would be helpful," he joked as I let out a low laugh.
After we exchanged number he smiled and said so I will see you Saturday for sure and he was about to turn before he leaned over the desk and gave my cheek a kiss, "See you soon Lexi, for our date," he smiled as he walked down the corridor of the hospital and I couldn't help but smile watching him leave.
"What was that about?" Lucy's voice asked intrigued and mischievous as she sat on her chair opposite me with a bright smile on her face.
And the conversation began.
