Chapter 5
*Dr.Mills POV*

"Thank you again for this." Mr. Mars thanked me.

"No problem, but I have to tend to my other patients. Jane here can help you with the paperwork." I said leading him to the front desk.

"Alright, thanks again."

"No problem, I'll see you tomorrow." I said walking to my other patient, Sam who is 15. She also has a brain tumor like Sophia.

I knocked on the door to Sam's room, with the test results in hand, I hear a faint "come in."

"Hello Sam how are you?" I smiled.

"I'm doing good."

"That's good, well I have the results of the test, and it looks like you are eligible to go through with the surgery."

"You hear that Sam, you can do the surgery." Sam's mother said, as she held her hand.

"But there is a problem." I added.

"What do you mean?" Mrs. Tucker asked. I nodded my head to the door so I can tell her in private.

"There is a 30% chance that Sam will die in the surgery." I told her once outside the room.

"Why?" She asked in shaking voice, tears coming to her eyes.

"The tumor has spread more than we wanted, this makes it harder for us to get all of it out, but we will do our best. I'm sorry." I explained.

"Ok um when do you think the surgery can be held?" She asked sniffling

"We can have it on, Wednesday morning."

"Ok, let me ask Sam." She said wiping her eyes, taking a deep breath and walks back in me following behind her.

"Sam, honey I have a question." She said sitting down in the chair next to her bed holding onto Sam's hand.

"Yeah?" Sam faintly replied.

"Dr.Mills here told me you can have the surgery on Wednesday afternoon. Do you want to do that?" She asked softly.

"Yeah, let's do that." She smiled at her mom.

"Ok I'll go get the paperwork for you. I'll be right back."

I quickly run over to Jane, got the proper paperwork, and head back to their room.

"Here you go Mrs. Tucker." I said handing her the paperwork. "Just hand it in when you're done. I've got to go."

"Thank you"

"No problem." I said walking out of the room. This going to be a long week
