Chapter 12- The next morning

I felt the sunlight shine across my face making me wince, I turned around in my bed to face away from the source of light. I suddenly felt myself bump into something hard; I opened my eyes in shock to see Jack lying beside me. I picked up the duvet to see if I was clothed, I felt relieved that I was not naked but panic erupted within me when I saw I was only in my underwear. I tried really hard to think what happened last night but I couldn't remember anything. All I remember was leaving with Jack and instead of having coffee like we agreed; we instead drowned ourselves with beer. My head was thumping which was making it harder for me to connect the dots. The only thought my mind could muster up was to escape. I removed the duvet off me and climbed out of the bed into the cold air. I picked up my clothing from the floor and dressed myself as fast as I could. I picked up my denim jacket and my bag but before I left I decided to leave a note. I really wouldn't like it if someone stayed over and didn't even have the decency to wait or even write a note. The best option for me was to leave a note but because I was a coward to face him especially when I have no idea what happened between us last night. I decided to leave without writing a note. I need some time before I could see or talk to him. Before I left I glanced to see he was still sleeping and I couldn't help but smile. He looked so damn cute and at that moment I really wanted to kiss those lips again. I shook my head away from those little naughty thoughts and made my way out.

Once out in the street I dialled for a taxi. I debated which option would be better, either to go home and run in with Vincent and him knowing I was out all night. Or I could go back to the boutique and sort myself out before I opened for the day and it wouldn't seem like I just sneaked out of a gorgeous hunk's bed. Without any hesitation when the taxi arrived I gave the old man the address to my boutique, it was a far better option than bumping into Vincent this morning.

Once I arrived, I looked around to see that no one was around. I walked to the entrance and unlocked the door and walked in. I turned around to lock the door when I saw Gem's car rolling into the car park. I started to panic I didn't want her to know I stayed with Jack, knowing her she would escalate the small matter to something massive which I didn't need right now. I locked the door and ran towards my office to change myself out of evening attire into something smart. I always had a spare outfit in my office just in case I ever needed one and today I was thankful that I had a smart brain. I quickly threw the dress on the other side of the office as I put my black and white stripped top over my head. Once done, I slid the pencil skirt over my legs when I heard the knock on the door. I tried to quickly zip up my skirt, while doing this I tried to get rid of my dress but instead I bumped my toe against my desk which made me yelp in pain. I hopped around while I snuck the evidence away. Gem continued to knock on the door and each time it was getting louder. I sorted my hair strands out with my fingers and I rummaged through my handbag and found some mints. I popped one in my mouth and walked out to the shop floor to see Gem banging her wrist against the glass door.

"Don't try to break the damn door."

"What took you so long to answer?" She pushed past me.

She turned around to look at me, "Wow, you look awful."

"Thanks for the compliment." I sarcastically stated as I walked past her into my office.

"What made you get out of the house like that?"

I tried to stay cool, but inside I was fretting that she would sniff it off me. "I had a late night." I muttered before collapsing onto the sofa.

"You should have slept in and asked Mia to open the boutique for you."
